Transition to cash

Hi all

I've been thinking about this for a while, and think the time has probably now come.......

I rate my own tournament game as pretty good and over time I'm profiatble in this format, however my cash game has always been poor and I think it's time to start the transition.

Looking for advice on the best way to make the transition to cash?  I struggle with playing really low as the money isn't important to me, and can happily roll myself to £400-£500.

Would appreciate any advice that you can offer, I intent to make the switch next week and will try to keep you posted on my progress.

I'd advise similar to what TommyD said on the show on Tuesday, around £450 is plenty for NL10 and then if you start well you can move up to NL20 and likewise if you run bad you can stay at NL10 as moving down to NL8 doesn't need to happen till you get to say £200 and you'd have to play pretty awful to drop 25 BI's that quickly at NL10 lol.

In terms of how you play I'd say just keep it tight early doors till you get to know the REG's and of course find out where the value is, as for moves/bluffing etc I personally don't think you need to think about it till you get to NL20 as there's stil plenty of folks happy to hand you free money.

In fact the best advice would be to become very good at table selection and if need be constantly switch tables chasing the value as sometimes you start on a good table but some other guy stacks the fish then due to laziness you stay on the same table just passing chips with the REG's not realising that unless you cooler one of them it'll be pretty hard to win money.

Of course you can beat them in other ways grind them down etc but when a guy on table X gets 100bb AI pre with 66 why would you stay on table Y where he won't go AI pre without QQ?

Good luck though matey and run well early ;)

Well like I said it was only propelrlyISH because up until that time I had been playing DYMs because I thought I wasn't good enough for cash (no offence to DYmers, it's what I thought of myself) so I only started at NL20 with about £160 but had the plan of grinding it back with DYMs if I had a downswing of say 3 buyins.

    Eight sit-downs? That's pretty bold.

    True. Definitely true. :)

I have to say, though, that losing three sit-downs isn't really a downswing, it's just a few bad beats or bad hands. With only eight sit-downs you can't survive much variance and you can't afford to make very many mistakes.

That was when I was just starting to take cash semi-seriously though : )

I've recently stopped withdrawing and am grinding up my buyins
