Just catching up on this thread, great work on the updates Sky Poker team. Good luck to all the players. Someone (Dan) needs to put Claire in her place and take a picture of her and post it up. I usually get a few at SPT's but I'm too scared to post them, well, most of them. ;-) Posted by Machka
Just interviewed Sam1986 - he's so cute I could cuddle him - thats all 10 interviewed, so Dan & Mother can get back to London, & I am now officially in charge here.
The Interviews will be edited & cut into a 30 minute Show, & on 865 quite soon I believe.
I will be on the late shift tonight, as play continues until end of Level 9, so around 1am.
Lets hope we can bring back a good few of our boys tomorrow, when the Tourney begins in earnest.
I set the line last night @ 180, but a dealer said to me he would bet the bank on there being less than 160. Good shout, Sir.
The last player to buy in, with seconds to spare, was young James Williams, who has been back on Sky Poker of late, frequenting the Big Boys Cash Tables.
What's your view on numbers tikay? 172 last year, 146 this I think (and 10 of the 146 are Sky) Disappointing? Or in the right ball park? Symptomatic of lots of competitor tours around, or a deeper malaise? Posted by SPT
Exactly in line with expectations it seems Rich, though if this were my Tour - & I must be diplomatic, as I am a Guest here today - I would be apoplectic with rage.
It is a lovely Tourney, it just needs a little freshen up. More than that, I could GUARANTEE to double the field size (you could near treble it) if they gave me/you the job to shift the seats. Truly, we could.
In fairness, they now have a very small Online Room - much smaller than Sky Poker these days I fancy - so that does not help.
Even so, if you want to sell seats, you need to get out there & make people aware.
I just can't grasp why they do not bother. In Sky Poker, if a Live Tourney was coming in short of numbers, Lords Milner, Harmer & Co would be all over it like a rash, & they'd be on the phone to you & me morning noon & night. They would allow us one failure, though, then they be getting a bit shouty wouty. Quite right too.
Man Overboard! Sadly, we have lost GIANT. He had around 10,000, & walked his Q-Q into the Big Blind's A-A. How can he have the Aces there? Great lad, really. Posted by Tikay10
Sigh, ul giant, if it was an 8game comp, you'd be head and shoulders above the rest.
I need to be a bit diplomatic too, but I would like to see the tour succeed. Many in UK Poker owe the GUKPT a lot, I think. To me, with what its profile should be, success would be 300 runners per leg, and far more satellite qualifiers. Now then, special bonus for a good photo of Scotty77 please. Some say it might be impossible.... Posted by SPT
I would LOVE it to be successful, Rich, as it was THE first real Tour, I have great memories of it, & it was responsible for all the Live Tours we now see, it was a real groundbreaker, taking over from the previous local Fessies.
Maybe the week-long Fessies will make a comeback, who knows?
Meanwhile, we can all stay @ home & play @ Sky Poker.com. Now that one IS growing, like no other.
Photo of Scotty? OK, I'll take that as a challenge. On my way.
Nice to see that Lum Wong Ming is relaxed on the feature table but he makes me nervous each time he is in a pot and doesn't cover his cards!! Posted by dylan12
Good spot Dyl.
It is his FIRST EVER Live Game, so we tried to give him a quick crash course on Live Poker before play commenced.
The lad in yellow - just visible between Scotty & Thewy, is "Magic Sami". He's been playing here for 12 years to my certain knowledge. Bit feisty, but decent enough chap really.

He conducts himself very well tbh
P.S. Go do some work otherwise I will tell Mr Milner that you are skiving
115 of the 153 runners remain @ the end of Level 6, & they are now on a 15 min break.
Chip Leader is Tim Blake, aka T8MML, which is a truly remarkable story.
If you take a look on the Sky Poker You Tube Channel, you will see I interviewed him in Vegas last year, he was bright & bubbly, never ever moaned, always cheerful, my idea of a proper bloke.
3 weeks later he had a massive stroke, & was totally paralysed down one half of his body.
His recovery was slow at first - in fact, many of us were surprised he recovered at all, & facebook was rammed with "get well soon" messages for him, but even though he is still in quite poor physical shape, he is on the mend.
Mother & I had brekkie with him & his long-suffering missus this morning, & he told us the whole story of his recovery, we were welling up.

TO BET HONEST WHEN YOU SAID GIANT WAS TALL I HAD THE PERCEPTION HE WAS STOCKIER ? NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY THE COVER SPRINGS TO MIND !

There is a VLV Quarter Final at NINE PM (2100) tonight.
1 in 5 go through to join the players below in tomorrow's Semi-Final.
Tomorrow week, at LEAST one player will get a phone call from Sky Poker, "congrats on winning your £10,000 package to Las Vegas".
It could be YOU, but you gotta be in it to win it.
It is his FIRST EVER Live Game, so we tried to give him a quick crash course on Live Poker before play commenced.

PS - Go away.
I have won the Tighty Challenge.
