cash players help me please

hi hope the title doesnt lead you off the beaten track

i was sat on a 25p 50p cash table other day heads up

both me and op sat with full buy in which i lose no probs there so i stand up and so does op with 96 quid in front of him then he sits straight back down only with 50 in front of him.
when i try this it says i have to sit back down with full amount i stood up with why was he allowed to shorten his stack?

    If the table empties completely, then the software allows to him to sit down with a normal amount, instead of the amount he stood up with.

    ^ What he said. Even if the other player is sat out with £0 you still can't shorten your stack until there is nobody sat at the table at all.
