MTT Late Stages - Shove??

I know I post my MTT shoves on here all the time but I think it's something I need to work on. This was the Thews @ Ten, got put in for free by TK for my work on the HU comp so I was freerolling. I did really want a cash as it was a freeroll and the prize pool was quite tasty, but at the same time I wasn't just gonna sit round and try to fold into the bubble and leave myself no chips for the win.

87 runners, we're down to 17 here and it pays 10th place. Do you think this is unnecesary? Looking back I was thinking that getting a fold adds a very small amount to my stack so is it really worth taking the risk but I dunno if I'm being results orientated.

Thoughts Please?

P.S. Still happy I did this well without rebuying at all.

Cheers everyone, especially Doh - That was a very interesting link, there's certainly more hands in the calling range than I thought.

The calling ranges are only optimal against an optimal shoving range.

On sky you can ignore that calling range unless you're playing a really good player, even then he's likely to be shoving tighter than usual due to his edge in the tourny, trying to play a low variance style etc. Most players are jamming far too tight.

But yeh, just put it up to show how wide you can shove profitably, and to show KJ is welllllllllllll within that range. So no brainer rly.

I undertstand the equity in the shoving range is above 50% and hence the range is profitable to shove. I don't quite understand the equity of the call in the big blind as it shows 30 odd percent. Would be grateful if somebody could expalin fully?

Yeah prob a better question in posted hand would be "Late stages - what wouldnt you shove?"

To say that I personally would be ATC in this spot, would be a mahoosive understatement.

    Whats worse that can happen?

Thought about it a bit, you need a calling range, for the shoving range to work? Entiendo - I Think!

as everyone say`s it`s standard to shove at least you shoved and put the pressure on the oppo, i`d rather put the pressure on oppo and not be on the end off a shove.
