The Live Update that Died.

edited November 2009 in The Sky Poker Tour

As many of you know, we somehow "lost" the first 6 hours of Saturday's Live Update. SPT Rich then started another, & just got on with it, typically, he bore what was to him a grievious blow very stoically, though I can tell you, he was mortified, as we all were. It was pretty much the only thing that went wrong all day, apart from Orford cashing in a SNG.

Sadly, those who wanted to read the "Part 1" Live Update can't now see it.

Live Updates are so important, & this was our first proper Live Interactive Live Update. (The one at last year's Grand Final was not really Interactive, as it was in Blog form).

I'm pasionate about their role in Poker Communities - in fact, & correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I pioneered them, back in '04 or '05, (Copenhagen EPT), in those days none were Interactive, but everyone does them now. So I know just how disappointed SPT Rich was, & many of you were.

An investigation has taken place today, but we just don't know what happened, or how, it's one of those mysteries.

Really, I just wanted to say, from all of us here, "sorry".

Personally, I blame Rich. Rich Orford, that is.

You could tell how mortified he was and by the end of the night he was really knackered. Big up to him for all he did.
It can't be easy trying to listen to your commentary above the "normal" goings on at a casino, so well done m8, we don't blame you at all, but i agree Orford must have done something.

Its a shame people cant read it but as you said its one of those things and it cant be helped.

I was on here from 1 till around 12.30am (yeah i did miss the final) reading all the updates Rich provided us with and I think he did a fantastic job.  I really enjoyed reading them and he did a top job answering as many of our questions as he could.

I think for those who couldnt be there sky did brillaint at keeping us informed, a couple quoted on the day that it almsot felt like we was there and i agree.

I look forward to reading the next leg

    Top Job Sky

    Gareth

    Probably Baz!

Seriously, nobody knows what happened, or why, & in that respect, it matters not, but Sky Rich's Post looks optimistic, so it may yet return.

It was really weird - one moment it was there, the next it was gone. It's never happened before - how unlucky was that?!

It disappeared faster than Orford in a Tourney.

    Hi tikay

On that serious side, SPT can't say who won the comp until it,s found, but as you say things sound ecouraging

    Lets hope it comes back

In total the thread would make a 375 post record of the event, and would be something I would be proud of.

    If not, c'est la vie.

I must have done about 50 live updates now, and believe me, as I get more confident in the Sky community, know the people a bit better (not so easy to gently tease those you don't know!) there are a lot more fun and games to come!

    Hi Rich
Tbh m8 what with Des doing his best to give us all swine flu, and Tony talking so quietly into the mic, and the problem with the live feed, i think you did a great job, as i put in another thread, you looked totally knackered by the end and i hope you are now refreshed. I'm looking forward to see you in Newcastle and you do have my permission to take the mickey out of me to any extent and at any time.
    nice one m8
