Multiple "away" players

Posted this on the show thread tonight so apologies if you've seen it already....

A quick question - I was recently playing in a min stakes MTT and found myself on a table where 4 of the players were "away" for a long time - obviously I didn't help myself to any blinds (!) but it got me thinking.

If all the players on a S&G table (a dym for example) marked themselves away at the start and never came back, would the game ever finish? I don't think it could happen on a cash table (the rake would eventually take all the cash) or in a MTT (they'd eventually be re-allocated to other tables).

What - other than sky intervention - would stop the game?

If they where all away on cash then they would "sit out". As far as MTT blinds would be so big the time a hand got played, the bb and sb would be going all in due to the blind levels

Yeah on a cash table the people would be 'sat out' and Sky don't take rake on any preflop action anyway so there would be no rake taken even if they did all keep posting blinds.

MTTs as Shaun said would eventually get to a point where the SB and BB were forced to be all-in because of the size of the blinds and someone would win and so on.

SnGs would be the same as above (DYMs included)

On a different note, if people are sat out, you definitely need to be raising to steal blinds. You'd be doing it if they were there, only this time you got 100% fold equity ;) lol. The only time I wouldn't do this is if the opponent is someone I know/a mate.

id def be helping my self to those blinds, why not take advantage of it unless you know them and they are trying to reconnect.

My tongue was firmly in my cheek in my post - I filled my boots - me and the other "live" player ended up 1st & 2nd but we weren't the biggest stacks on the final table so I'm putting it down as a genuine cash!

Thanks for putting me straight - of course, once the blinds got bigger than the stacks...... Thanks guys.
