Has the forum helped your poker

We all strive to get better at poker and play a much better game. This takes time and there are many ways of doing it. Some read books, some learn from experience, some have training or watch channel 865, but some may find they use the forum and gain advice from other players or post things themselves whether it be in the clinic, area 51 the general poker chat ect. Some may even just read others postings and take tips from there. Even posting bad beats remind you that you could have played a hand better than you did and without making that post and seeing comments about it would probably forget about certain hands you could of played differntly.

Ive been on the forums posting and reading since 2009 and without it i dont think my online poker would have impoved as much as if i didnt post. There is a wealth of information and ways to get you thinking on this forum and as a lot of us continue to post. it has to be to improve as well as socialise. I dont really check out other site forums that much mainly this one, maybe i should i dont know. But thanks to everybody who does post i definatly think you all have helped me in some way or another. Even when im on tilt and having a bad run, people put me back in check and tell me too man up, it helps. Or seeing that other players go through the same things i do.

I think a player who does get involved on this forum must have improved a large percentage compaired to a player that hasnt.

What are your views on this and how has the forums helped you?

I feel I'm not very good but I know what I should be doing. The hard part is putting it into practice. I feel I've picked up some great tips/advice from the forum but after you've been playing for a while with no improvement it is hard not to fall back on bad habits that have been embedded. As Tikay says with the golf analogy, If you go to the range and keep hitting balls your just reinforcing bad habits. I need to try to forget my bad habits and start to make good plays my default position. Best wishes. Shaun the Villa fan in Bham

this is why posting on the forum is a good thing, as you change your bad habbits and analise your hands making you into a better player rather than doing the same thing over and over. It questions yourself and impoves your play.

well im good at getting confused and confusing others lol

Forum doesnt help myself personally, i use it for banter and occasionally my POV in clinic but like i say not for me.

Online Messenger or skype i mean, talking to poker friends and playing are best for me.

I don't really play poker much anymore, I only talk about it... So no, it hasn't improved my game but has kept me entertained.

Ive been an avid reader of the forum the passed 2 months, and have noticed a vast improvement in my game has my results lately show. Ive found reading other players analysis of hands very helpful, since yesterday ive taken 2 tourneys down 162 runner bh winning  £55 and a32 runner guaranteed winning £15. So to all members thankyou and keep posting.

A big yes for me, I've personally learnt so many things since posting and definitely feel I've improved with many of the concepts people suggest that I might not haveeven considered. One really silly one is check raising the flop with sets, at one time I ALWAYS led out into raiser but now mostly c/r which yields so much more success against the right oppo's.

I voted ages ago but yeah it's a definite yes from me. Without a shadow of a doubt it has turned me from a losing player to a winning player. I might only be winning small amounts (and my cash diary aint backing that up right now) but I'm confident I'll never need to deposit again. I aint deposited once in the last 18+ months and even made a few withdrawals so I can't quibble.
