If I ever met Tikay and Orford, i would go weak at the knees.
Oh wait I did meet them.
Or did I .. I can't remember.
I'm sure it was memorable... at the time ;o)
Great show as always lads, Ignore the above, I was well chuffed when I met you guys at Glasgow 2 years ago now. Tikay chatted with me for about half an hour when we first met. Richard phoned my mates girl friend and chatted her up... Ah memories
i heard tikay saying small is good im glad i did. I say that to my friend who insists on always trying to trap and then i have to listen for ages how he was bad beat considering hes a super nit he will only get beat by weaker hands and way he plays it happens often. its amazing if you spoke with him hes never played a hand wrong yet i think most hes ever won at poker at 1 time is £50 i just cant get him to understand that taken down alot of small pots is better than losing the big 1 that busts you because you tryin to get too much out the other player who eventualy hits i would be starstruck if i saw will smith (legend) and sir alex ferguson just funny thought of the legenderry hairdryer rant from fergie imagine him having a badbeat rant lol Posted by DrRunGood
Lol, that is oh so true, & I have to hear & read that sort of stuff every single day!
"the bloke called me down & hit on the river".
It makes me so sad, I try again & again to explain the simple maths, & logic, but there's none so blind & all that. Or deaf.
I play a good bit of Omaha when time permits, & I see it in the chat box again & again - "nice catch (note the sarcasm), how could you call, you were drawing?". Omaha IS a drawing game! Our pre-flo holdings in Omaha are worthless, one pair (the absolute BEST we can have pre-flop!) is so rarely good by the end, the WHOLE IDEA of Omaha is to hit our draws!
You, Sir understand how poker works. Play properly, & recognize that even money shots, or flips, only win once in 2, & that 2/1 shots twice in 3. We can't have the wins without the losses. All we have to do is get the maths on our side & accept that we will win more than we lose if we play correctly. We can't bask in the glory of winning hands if we can't face losing a few too.
sorry to ask a silly question yet again guys but tikay what do you mean by there may be a table dynamic? again sorry if it is a simple concept i have missed... thanks Posted by bugaloo
Morning bugaloo.
Not a silly question at all - never be afraid to ask any question, nobody here is going to flame or diss you.
"Table dynamic" means, in poker parlance, the way a particular table, or more correctly, the mix & blend of players at that table, play.
It is a HUGE mistake to have a system where you do this, that, or the other the same all the time. Any good player will, & must, adjust his play according to what is known as the "table dynamic".
This "dynamic" is different at EVERY SINGLE TABLE, & we MUST adjust our play accordingly.
What is this "dynamic".
Essentially, the ingredients & variables are.....
How often the other players raise, call, c-bet, fold to a raise, call a lot, raise a lot, aggro factor pre & post-flop, defending (or not) their blinds, what sort of hands they show when called down, etc.
Stack sizes, (be it cash or tourney), do they show tilt-tendancies, have they just lost a big pot, are they making moves because they are short-stacked, locked up because they are near the bubble, opening from the button every orbit, calling wide, betting "light" holdings, only playing premiums, what sort of hands are they calling raises with, or showing up with on the end?
There - every single one of them - are all variables, in that they are different at every single table.
So, to be successful, or even competent, at poker, what we must do is alter our OWN style to "suit the table dynamic".
The most known table dynamic tactic is one you wll have heard. "On a tight table, loosen up, on a loose table, tighten up". That is "adjusting to the table dynamic".
Another is "playing an OPPOSITE style" to the rest of the Table, which mostly works.
That, very briefly, is what "table dynamic" is.
Is it extremely important, right up there with position, not limping, & general awareness of what your opponents are doing, or trying to do. Note, by the way, that in "Rush Poker" (now deceased), or "ZOOM", you cannot do these things, which changes the game completely.
Good luck bugalooo, & if you have further questions, fire away, I'll take them all day long if need be. The likes of scotty77, TommyD & the nosebleed guys will always answer the heavy & advanced stuff too, but this is basics, this is A-B-C, & it is essential to understand.

i could speak to you all day tikay most my friends are so negative about poker it gets me down even talking to them bout it now. Everyhand they speak about is negative out come about how bad an opponent played yet i never hear stories of them pulling off a good move. Saying that i have 1 mate who has come round to our way of thinking and he admits by talking bout how we play instead of others has improved each others games no end. well just thought id say that hope to speak again sometime tikay take care
p.s. (you should keep mentioning on 865 everyone goes on bout what videos to watch to learn and what books to read being positive and realistic and looking at your own play rather than others ur against is best way to improve)
