Cash games - the way forward to grind a consistent profit?

Hi all,

Been playing on the site regularly for about a year or so, initially depositing £30 and thanks to some good MTT results and other bits and bobs have managed to build my roll up to £1,200 and it's been hovering around this figure for a couple of months now.

Most of my success has been from MTT's and they're the games I enjoy the most, however I have got very lucky so far and am well aware of the high variance involved in playing them regularly.

Therefore I'm looking for a game I can grind regulary to keep my bankroll 'afloat' to effectively fund MTT buy ins. I've tried DYM's but find them too nitty, and HUSNG's I find too swingy.  I'm thinking of turning to 4 tabling cash games.  I've never really grinded these games before but have heard that they're the most effective way to grind a consistent profit.

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts.  Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I think alot of what you are asking depends upon your objectives.

Do you want to continue enjoying your poker or are you looking to take things more seriously?

Personally if you're playing recreationally and enjoying it, you're doing really well at MTT's.  I'd just continue doing it.

If you're looking to make a regular income, then maybe switch to cash

Your definitely right to switch to cash mate. Edges are bigger and variance and disappointments are lower. However you really want to be funding you cash games with cash game winnings. So I would suggest starting at very low stakes cash even if you are bankrolled to play higher. Their is a lot to learn in cash poker, and usually a lot of experience required to become a winning player at cash, which is not an easy task, given the rake paid to the site.

If you are winning after about 25,OOO hand s played. then i would suggest risking slightly more of your bankroll at higher stakes maybe 5%. You really want to have played between 50,000 and 100,000(maybe more)hands to be confident that you are a winning cash player at a certain level.

Always remember to select your tables very carefully and that poker is a marathon not a sprint.

Im the same here and do best at mtts, cant stand dym really so gonna get back into playing cash tables, as its a completely different style to mtts i would start of just doing no more than 2 tables just to get a feel for change and once you get comfortable start 4 tabeling. Or move up a level and play less tables. If your good at mtts still play them but dont do it at the same time as playing cash as its better to focus on one or the other.
