Hi guys,
had a great time on here! i truly have!! but i just cannot get my head around online play in the slightest!! getting to the point where i am starting to get a little frustrated now as i am not a stupid person by any stretch of the imagination
and whatever it is i am lacking i just cannot put my finger on it .... had plenty of advice especially from one member to which i heeded and still no joy in any shape or form.
when i play live, i am so much better, but online seem to be a real doofus and can't seem to put a foot right. So rather than let it start to get the better of me, knocking it on the head. Even the books about online play are not really giving me any hope at the moment.
i don't know if it's my understanding of the game or what or wether i am not learning from my mistakes, but something is not gelling and it is starting to get the better of me. when the enjoyment is gone time to walk, love my live play so Going to stick to live paly where i feel most comfertable and my opponents dont lol

There are far too many players here playing with loose cards that will get you.
Once you have adjusted your play to accomodate this, you will be fine. Trust me.
If it really is that bad, take a few days away, as i find if i am not hitting cards, I will start to chase stuff I normally won't and play a too large a range of cards.
At the micro DYM's the tightest play usually works but then be aggressive on the bubble, but don't go over the top.
Did you walk straight into casino's and play the £500 tournys when you first started playing live? I'll bet not.
I'll have a guess that you started with friends around a table and you were all pretty awful, then over a LONG period of time your reads on your friends and your game development will have increased to a level that you felt good about your game. Then you try the small casino tournys and get slapped about a bit. Then you try again and do a bit better. I'm sure it will all come together for you if you stick with it
I've seen you play against good people and do well (FT on the first posters roll if IIRC)
Take a break, move down the levels or just stick to one discapline (Cash or tourny, Sng) whichever your having the most sucsess with. But don't give up on it cos there's a world of fun to be had online (even if your not doing it at a great profit)
P.S did you check out the site that i PM'ed you the other week?
Keep notes on the players on your table, always useful.
If you're playing at a med-high stakes here, most players will probably be regulars and know the general play here, and have probably more experience at poker than live players (lot more hands played in a set time) i'd definetly consider dropping a level or two till you get used to the play
Keep going at them at the lowest level. You may lose a few quid over the next week or so, but long term, you will gain a working strategy. What works for me, may not work for you.
I started down there, and trust me, the plays are that loose, you can't even trust your monsters but you can beat them.
Better to invest a few quid now to gain the knowledge required to make a few quid later.
It's the same as calling someone you know has got you beat just to see the range of cards he is playing.
I have done that on many occassions especially if it has been an extremely aggressive player who has been taking the pots down pre showdown. Notes then made and info like that can be priceless in the future.
Live play will be more loose passive as less hands are played per hour.
Live is also tighter in tournys because online if you crash out there will be another starting in a couple of minutes.
Live play gives you physical tells which are not available online.
Calling down light is easier online because of the anonimity in online play as compared to live.
Bad decisions are made online due to the lack of thinking time that is available live.
Because of the low stakes online compared to live people are much more willing to gamble with very marginal holdings online.
These are just a few of the differences. Once you can factor these into your game you will find your online play improving. Just stick to it mate you have good game and your mental breakthrough will come soon
You are a good player and you will turn it around online once you get used to the loose players.
good luck to you in whatever your decision is
Sometimes the poker gods are with you and every time you go all in the cards hit.
You have to have the luck on your side to qualify in such a game and you had plenty last night.
Make the most of it and play your normal game on Saturday and you will do well.
In MTTS I'll get back to you when I've found out..........lol.
I should keep to DYM's because my bankroll is going down....lol. but I love to play in the big tourneys and thats my downfall......lol.
Hope you start getting better fortune and good luck.
