Was in the Vegas semi direct tv tourney tonight was doing ok slowly getting chips, it was level 5 I think big blind was 150. Got dealt QQ flopped quads, the other guy bet into me and ended up shoving his stack in, that was ok. About  4 hands later I got QQ again thought might be my lucky night raised 450, every body folds, oh well not to bad got the blinds better than a kick in the balls. The very next hand get KK, am thinking wtf, raise 3x bob again, one of the shorter stacks goes all in I call he turns over AA, I loose almost half my stack. The very next hand again get dealt KK, actually wasn't to happy had a bad feeling this time, some crazy player that was basically playing every hand bet 1000, which I think was about 6 x the bb , was a third of my stack to I just thought shove all in, he has ak, all the cards till the river were low cards but u guest it the imfomas ACE ON THE RIVER, new it was gona happen, not too fed up I know variance ect but that 4 hands in the space of Mabey 7 I thought it was weird , anybody else have similar hands delt

I was once at a live cash game where the same player got Aces FOUR times in a row.

If it can happen, it will happen.  Poker is essentially a game of statistics and thats how they just work.  Sometimes these things come across in a short space of time and you notice them...

You notice them less in live poker because a) you get dealt less hands per hour....b) live poker is usually 9/10 handed meaning big hands are that much rarer c) showdown is a lot more rare as its generally harder to get all your money in a live game than it is online and d) when we play live we usually have a chat with other people and don't pay as much attention to the game.

Please just enjoy the game and don't let these conspiracy theroies ruin the game for you!

Don't listen to Scotty, crazy hands never happen in a live game of poker. Just go to youtube and search "crazy poker hand" if you don't believe me!

Sorry I expressed that wrong.  The odds are the same obv.  What I meant was that the games tend to play a bit more passive....a lot of live players don't even like getting in KK AIPF.

At least you got action - I remember a Sky Roller tournament last year in which I had my best hands ever. As I said at the time:

"You gave me the best hands I have ever had in such a tourney AA 5x KK 2x But (**** you Sky!) I only saw action on one of the hands, and just got a check raise out of it. Played very standard 3x bets but no callers or folded to the BB"

Jeez... people will complain about anything! "I got loads of big hands last night! What is the meaning of this!?!? SORT IT OUT SKY!!!"

Apologies bckneil, I know you're not really complaining. It's just funnier that way.

It's not that weird really. The odds say it's highly unlikely but it has to happen sometimes. Just be happy...

Didn't something like this happen on the cash table at SPT Cardiff last year? I think Thewy and The Don were on the same table and something similar happened...

Having Thewy at the table significantly increases the chances of someone getting dealt Aces four times in a row.

That is the odds of hitting the same pair 4 times in a row, assuming the first pair is given, Ie you are dealt AA then you get it another 3 times.  The odds of getting the first AA is 100% because you already have it.

But the odds of getting dealt it initially is 220-1 so multiply 10,648,000 x 220  and you get the figure I posted 2,342,560,000 to 1

We're both doing the same calc, it's just, do you say the first pair is a given or not.  either way.  LONG LONG LONG Odds ;o)

for someone to have them consecutively,it would mean that AA was  the first hand,so each subsequent AA is @220-1.. so there fore the odds of getting it 4 times consecutively are 1x220x220x220...
but however if we were to ask what are the odds on the next 4 hands being AA your calculation is correct....

but the odds on getting AA 4 times in a row are one in  10,648,000  ( for any PP 4 times in a row.)

    :)
