was only playing a 30p double your money when we got down to the final 3 the last player  who went out who shall remain unnamed, decided to call us all boring and used some rather colourful language. this is a first for me since i been playing on sky poker, is this a common thing?

not common, but it does happen.
i once got called a leper who should die, because i flat called a min raise when i was on big blind, holding small pocket pair and hit trips.
i've also witnessed insults involving reproduction with an opponents mother.

there are definitely some people on sky poker that let the site down with behaviour like you have experienced.  This can be off-putting but they really are the minority.  Here on the forum, you will find plenty of people who are socialbe and helpful.

As suggested, get on to customer services, and report the person, to help ensure others dont need to put up with it.

I'd never thought of reporting it before, just shrugged it off (water off a duck's back to me) the couple of times it's happened to me, but obviously if they'd do it to me they'd do it to others. If it happens again I'll report it.

You should report the individual. This sort of behaviour is unacceptable.  Poker has moved from dusty smoke filed rooms to an open for all game, this sort of behaviour as being acceptable went out years ago.  Letting the person away with it would be wrong.

Don't let someone with low IQ get you down.

Just let your good poker do the talking, that will really miff them off!!! Somebody once put " i hope your mother dies" what an awful comment, I made notes about them, then bullied them on the poker table every time we meet, no comments after that!!!

Abuse in the chatbox should not be acceptable and should be reported to customer services.
