Dosnt bother me that much and i actualy enjoy chatting back at them when they do it and end up being a lot smarter than them. They soon realise they are not gonna get anywhere and back down. I dont swear at them i just pull them up on what they are saying and they seem to contradict themselves and i kinda use reverse phycology which really messes with there head, i find it hillarious. But now and again there is a line and some do cross well beyond the boundries and i just cut and paste chat send it to customer care and jobs a good un. Dont let it get to you thats generaly what they want and if you show that it does you have lost and stooped to there level if you end up being abusive back.

I would like to see a statement from sky poker that makes it clear what their policy is on deciding whether or not to chat ban people-------- Do they take into account who started it?--- Is a certain amount of retaliation acceptable?-- Am I allowed to defend my Mums good name?  (Katherine)-----Most abuse seems to start quite gently, and escalate, but when someone tells me what my Mum did last night, when I know for a fact that she was at home making apple and rhubarb crumble, and can no longer manage that particular position anyway, am I allowed to tell them what I think of their summary of my Mums evening?

the amount of players that have slept with my mum well.......... anyways she always tells me that they got a small tod-ger and arnt very good in bed. Infact shes a bit of a man eater and usualy reduces them to tears and they they end up being monks and make a chastity vow for the rest of there poker life.

I wish people would stop nannying me,, I dont feel offended by proxy, and earlier on I am sure I have upset one or two but please, I am over 18, if i were in a casino I would expect the grown ups at the table to swear a little. Maybe its me and I find this whole debate inane, call me what you want, some of it will be true, but please, I am big and ugly enough to take it without a message to customer care, and in reality have a lot more to think about than someone I have never met, probably never will calling me names. But if it makes you happy to try to expel people who may offended you or offend you on behalf of someone else by a barbed comment typed from God knows where, crack on. Maybe hes just had a bad day.

Can understand where you're coming from here. I'm not bothered if someone says f@*! in the chat box when they get outdrawn. If I was banned for writing "ffs" in the chat box after being outdrawn, it'd be ridiculous.

Saw someone earlier in chat say "Come to Doncaster fight me I'll stab you, you f!~@&%£ c@#%" - Unsurprisingly, this guy was the first person to go out of the Sit 'n' Go ) Even though that wasn't aimed at me, there's still absolutely no need for it on a Poker site.

Although I agree that we shouldn't just report every single person who swears, there's also a point where sometimes, action has to be taken.

    +1 EVIL,

chat/banter is all part of the fun for many playing on-line poker,
    and long may it continue.
but when people start to get abusive towards another player or that players family
then they have quite simply "crossed the line".
these players imo should firstly be reported to cc.,who should then imo give the said player
    a warning,possibly a "yellow card".
if they then persist a second "red" card could follow, leading to either a chat box ban
or site ban, depending on the severity of the abuse.
(i am not sure what/if any system is  currently in-place,
but i feel sure sky must have some rules set aside.)

i,m sure we all have our own views on this subject,as we all should,
but i,m sure that we would almost all agree,
"bad verbal abusive behaviour to any player is just not acceptable".

Theres nothing better during a quiet game than seeing someone losing the plot or two players exchanging a few words.

If it gets to actual threats then yep its going too far and people should report it.  If its a little bit of wind up stuff, maybe the odd swear word or the 'your mother' joke book comes out and you cant handle that then maybe you need to get out a little more.

When someone starts to get like that theyre either Tilting, in which case you should tilt them more, or they are trying to tilt you, in which case if its got to the point of you reporting them then its working and that part of your game needs working on.

Its Poker not Tiddlywinks.  Now pass me that moonshine and a large cigar.

plz plz plz can we stop having these threads. 1)some poker players have potty mouths 2)you know what to do if you experience it. 3)you are NOT going to change human nature by posting!       sky could we just have a sticky at the top, pointing people in the direction of cc.

There's a big difference between banter and abuse.

If someone criticises my play, I may enter into a 'discussion' with them about this (and generally I will do this with an aim of tilting them), nothing wrong with that at all and I'll give as good as I take on occaisions.

If someone say's they hope I die of cancer, question my ethnicity or sexual orientation because they like to physically attack certain social groups or act / react with generally threatening behaviour towards me (all of which I've experienced on this site) then i won't hesitate to report them, there is no place for it at a poker table either online or live.  If it was live they'd be booted out of the casino, so they should also be booted out of here.

I appreciate your reply Flyingdagg, I suppose I am coming at this from a different angle, of course there is a line that should not be crossed and I am not condoning that.
When I first started here I played a heads up sit n go, oppo turned out to be from my city, he/she then said things about me that were true, where I lived, where I drank, I somehow won five games in a row and he/she said they would meet m,in my local that weekend to kick seven shads of whatsit out of me.
I duly turned up as normal to meet my friend, did they ? No idea... The looks I got were no weirder from the locals.
Its just idiots that I will waste no time stressing over.
Suppose my own angle was somewhat skewed yesterday too, a certain player had 'pla' at the end of their name, and I was chatting with a friend at a table he was sat, and jokingly mate said, wish you would put the pla at the start of his name. Obviously it stood for PLAYER, I jokingly said maybe it means Plant or Plank ? The aforementioned then piped up and said , right I am emailing customer care over abuse !
This was akin to the recent DTD game that Lambert180 started where he did the draw live. and referred to me as OutOfPosition North ,, the clever so and so, I have to admit this had never occured to me, my name was just a self effacing name on the Northerner that I am, having had many comments about whippets and flat caps. Did i become so distraught and report Paul for saying I was Out Of Position, and take umbridge on this and accuse him of smoking 80 Lamberts a day and smell like an ashtray ? ;)
No, I thought, Paul you smart cookie, wish I had thought of that, it was a much cleverer interpretation than mine !

    OMG 1001% Agreed!!!!

Bored of yawwwnnnnnnnnn 'he said' threads!! I have them right up there with the 'I'm leaving' threads but at least those are entertaining once in a while...

GPC doesnt stand for Generic Pointless Complaints... it stands for General Poker Chat!!

Not only is it pointless posting them in here, contrary to popular belief, we cant do anything about them!!

Actually we can, we can tell you to tell Customer Care... again!

Please please stop posting those type of threads.. it's depressing and it messes with my mo-jo!

    xx

The funny thing is, I wasn't being a clever so and so, I was being an idiot, cos I genuinely thought your name was 'out of position north', it was only when Emma corrected me that I realised lol.
