Good afternoon.

With the "Synched Breaks" now being rolled out across the entire Tourney schedule, as previously announced, & following the successful soft launch, some tweaks have been made to the Rebuy Tourneys starting immediately.

Some of these are a TRIAL, for THIS WEEKEND ONLY, & will be further modified, refined, changed back, reverted, or whatever, after the weekend, in the light of how they worked, and your feedback.

They PARTICULARLY apply to tonight's Rebuy Main Event, & tomorrow's "Super Bounty Hunter" Main Event.

More to follow........

Tonight's Rebuy Main Event will have an EXTENDED Rebuy Period.

There wil be a synch break at around 8.55pm, but rebuys will be permitted for a FURTHER 30 minutes of "PLAYED time".

A further break will thus ensue at APPROX 9.35pm, to facilitate final rebuys & add-ons.

It will then continue as normal.

Please note this, when considering your "Add-On", as, effectively, you will be getting LESS Big Blinds for your money. To a lesser degree this applies to any rebuys in the "extra" half hour, too.

    Those "approx" times.

The break does not start until ALL Tables have completed the hand they are on, so, in reality, the break @ 8.55 MAY start a minute or two later than 8.55pm.

The breaks do not count as "Tourney Time", so that delay knocks on.

The next period of play is then 30 minutes, PLUS a minute or two for all hands to come to  conclusion.

So, the final break for the OPTION to take final rebuys or Add-ons will more likely be @ around 9.37 or 9.38. It will last for APPROX 3 minutes.

Note that in Saturday's Super BH, there are, as far as I recall no add-ons available.

Just to reiterate my Opening Post, these are a TRIAL for this weekend only, & will be reviewed on Monday, in the light of performance, & feedback.

Broadly, these trial changes are for all Rebuys on Sky Poker, all weekend.

Obviously, there are exceptions, such as Turbo Rebuys, where it would not make sense to implement them.

More, & very important, changes, will continue to feed through in the near future for other stuff which I detailed earlier this year when I reported at length on the Sky Poker "develpment chain".

    Thanks.

Seems unnecessary. The break at 20:55 could have 2 minutes of rebuy time and then 3 minutes of add-on time so everyone could get final rebuys and then take the add-on. Is this so there are more rebuys? What are the reasons behind extending for 30 mins? Best wishes. Shaun the Villa fan in Bham

My guess would be that if the tournament started at 20:30 instead, you couldn't really have the addon period after 25 minutes, so it's not as easy as just doing it in the 1st tournament break like before.

I think that the add-on could be a little bit too late IMO, it may result in more rebuys, but definitely less addons too. I think the best time would be end of level 5 or 6, but we'll see how it goes in the trial tonight.

Am I missing something? It isn't starting at 8:30? So there is only a 5 minute discrepency with the old format.

I watched this final table at 2.30am last week, this is just gonna make it longer.

    7 hours + for a £10r?

Basicaly, the rebuy period is now 1hr 30 minutes. If so, I have reservations about it turning into a cra p shoot during the extended rebuy and add-on period as buyin/chipsatck ratio becomes shallower. On the flip side, it'll increase the prize pool for those who do survive the bingo phase of the tourney which is a good thing. I'll play it and see how it pans out before I pass judgement.

    Hi Teeks,

One of the best changes (for me at least - I know others disagree) was changing some of the velocity rebuys into 5min / 45min break tournaments. This, to me at least, has created a beautifully balanced fast tournament, that still lasts 2 1/4 hours, but where you are not being blinded out pre the add-on.

So, regardless of what you do to rebuys in general, please keep some of these faster structures going, and I will be forever in your debt (probably literally).

The synchro change applies to ALL Tourneys, so the answer as to Rebuys was that it had to be "one size fits all". (Rebuys start at different times). It was quite a ticklish thing to sort, actually.

As I explained earlier, it is a one weekend TRIAL, & may, or my not, be tweaked on Monday, based on functionality, user experience, & feedback.

I actually think it's rather good that they try these different things. If it does not work, so be it.

The ultimate decision will probably be based on numbers, as most are. There has been a running campaign against Bounty Hunters ever since we introduced them, but they get bigger numbers than anything else. It's all about trying to give most of the players what they most want - because that is good for both parties, self-evidently.

    We shall see.

    Thank you for the feedback.

Tonight's Rebuy Main Event starts at 8pm, as it always has, ditto tomorrow's Super BH.

I weould imagine it will result in MORE rebuys, & LESS Add-ons, but players can exercise the option whether to take them or not.

Its a joke. It may as well be a two hour rebuy as the add-on break comes at 21:40 and then the next break comes 10 minutes after that ends. I really can't see the point of it. Still haven't heard a valid reason for needing the extra half an hour other than for Sky to make more money from the rebuys which are raked.

But Sky also make less money from the addons which are raked, and as the addon is less big blinds so less people take the addon.

EDIT: Just checked the lobby - This week there's 289 entrants, slightly down from last week. The rebuys are up, addons are down, but the prize pool is about the same (It's a couple of hundred quid less than last week from memory, but then again, there was more runners last week).

I think if Sky want people to take the addon, they will probably need to increase the number of chips given. Previously the addon was 3k chips at the end of level 5, so an extra 38 big blinds at the start of level 6. Now it's 3k chips at the end of level 8, so you only get 15bb for your £££. I'm not saying have a massive addon that you need to take to have any chance of winning anything, but I expect that it'll need to be increased slightly in the future.

I have no problem with people rebuying - If someone is rebuying, it's because they've been knocked out, and a lot of people getting knocked out and needing to rebuy early will be people looking to gamble early to build a stack and have a couple of rebuys, or recreational players just having bit of fun on a Friday night - Both of these types of players probably aren't playing optimally, so it just builds the prize pool more for the better players who are more likely to cash.

Obviously not raking the rebuys and addons would be awesome, whether Sky will ever do that or not, I don't know.
