Another great tournament falls foul to sky pokers greed of rebuys

I used to play in a great tournament £1.10 speed tournament each night at 10.35 where up to 120 players would compete. It has now changed to a rebuy tournament so that sky poker can make more money and tonight I noticed it started with 41. Well done Sky Poker for pushing at least 60 players from a tournament to make a few extra pounds. This really is the worst poker site on the web!!

I agree rebuys are awesome but would be much awesomer if rake was only charged on initial buy in. I think the fact that rake is charged on rebuys is terribad...............just saying.

Great thing with rebuys is a fairly small tourney in terms of entrants can suddenly become a very lucrative one in terms of prize pool for example the current £1.10 £25 guarenteed began with 28 runners so £28 in the kitty, as of now it has £43, so top prize instead of being £14 is currently £21.50 and set to rise with more rebuys/add-ons etc.

I personally don't know why ALL MTT's aren't rebuys because as long as you have an ounce of self control and treat it as a freezeout you'll be set to make much more money from them.

In reference to the op, I really don't think the additional rake from a £1.10 tournament is making anybody terribly rich, maybe it was changed for other reasons?

Personally I prefer the option of re-buys in a speed tournament where action can be pretty frantic.  If you feel you have an edge in this tournament, you should welcome the re-buys.  1).  It inflates the pot so when you win you get paid more.  2). It gives you a second chance if you get donked out.

I agree, i went back to mtts elsewhere and my most profitable games are $1 turbo rebuys. Bit of high variance but played correctly a min cash is worth decent return and a deep runs offers great ROI, even if you cash in one in 4 on average which is defo possible in this structure i play then making profit is easy.

Mauybe im just running good lol.

I strongly suggest you find a different way to de-tilt, rather than coming on here and making yourself look like a giant donk.

Do you REALLY think Sky care about a few quid (from the extra 10p of rake it makes from rebuys) that it's going to make extra a night?!
Or do you think it cares about creating maximum satisfaction, as rebuys are arguably the most popular form of tournament poker on the site.

If you think it's that bad, either open a mature discussion like a rational human being, or don't post at all.

    Much love,
    Carlos Smitalos <3

P.s. Sky is one of the biggest giants of the world today, operating in TV, broadband, phone services, etc. If you genuinely think it cares about making a few quid in one of their relatively smaller ventures, you are sadly mistaken. This is a change based on listening to players wants, and if it doesn't cater to yours, then that's life. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Duces <3

    Hey folks,

There are a couple of posts on here which are getting a little heated. Obviously OP has a view about the tournament/pricing structure which not all of us agree with. The world would be a dull place if we agreed. Personally I think the term 'greed' is too strong, nor do I think this is anywhere near the worst poker site in the world. Still, he's entitled to an opinion. Let's try and keep it civil and keep the discussion constructive, otherwise we'll close the thread.

OP - the one thing Sky always try to do is innovate. We try things, listen to suggestions from customers (both on the forum and away from it) and we aim to be responsive. I think our efforts in this way stand us out from the crowd and I for one am proud of what we do here. There are lots of reasons why that particular tournament might have been changed. I am not going to pretend I can guess the precise reasons, but there WOULD have been a sensible reason behind the decision. Perhaps the players are heading off the site a little earlier than before/the weather was better/the day's sport was strong so less people logged in that one night. Those are just guesses, but all possible.

Anyway, I hope you enjoy the overall experience on Sky and the many positives we have as a poker site.

    Thanks,
    Dave
