Synchronised Breaks.

Hi,

As you know, Synchro Breaks were introduced recently, & bar a few little teething problems, seems to have worked pretty well. Gradually, the "we need" list is being whittled down!

In this morning's Management Meeting, it was agreed that these Synchro Breaks would be rolled out across MORE Tourneys, as follows....

Timed Tourneys

Satellites.

Therefore, in the next day or two, all Timed Tourneys & Satellites will be subject to the same Synched Breaks as the rest of the schedule, that is, they will break at 55 minutes past the hour.

This will, of course, introduce a few anamolies, that is bound to happen, but these will be dealt with as appropriate, if & when they arise.

In some cases, it will seem, or look, a bit daft to take the break. An example would be a Satellite where it is down to the seat bubble, for example, but for the sake of consistency, thats unavoidable, & I think the change is for the greater good.

Note that the break does NOT count as part of the scheduled playing time. So, for example, a 1 hour Timed Tourney will still have exactly one hour of PLAYING time, PLUS the 5 minute break.

Any questions, fire away.

Thanks.

Keep it comming Sky. I always struggled to play tournaments without a sync break purley based on needing 5 mins to refocus at times.

Great news to see this going across the programme, even if it will look daft those 5 mins can allow for a quick breather on the bubble of a sat. That quick breather often will go to the benifit of all.

    Thanks Tikay for updating us.

Can't help but feel the main idea behind the Timed tournaments was so that the players knew exactly how long they were playing.  60 mins for example,   the fact that they could know be playing for 66 67 68 69 minutes is kind of annoying.

Fair point, though I'm not sure "annoying" would be the adjective I'd use. Someone playing 2 or 3 other "non-Timed" Tourneys at the same time might find it convenient.

Not all Timed Tourneys, of course, would be affected, only those that "cross" the 5 mins to the hour line. A 30 minute Timed beginning at 15 past the hour, or a 45 minute beginning ON the hour, would not be affected.

Your point is noted though, and as I noted in the OP, there are bound to be some anamolies. Sometimes, it is nigh impossible to make two things compatible, so there needs a little give & take both sides.

DTD worked great last night with the sync breaks. 4 or 5 hours when breaks are staggered is pretty tiring.

As someone who multi tables and although i dont play them often i do enjoy timed tournys i applaud them having a break. If my desision is at say 4.45 and there 2 tournaments on is a £5 timed (example fwiw) and the other is a £2.20 bh (example) knowing that im getting a break id take the £2.20 bounty, because i am likley to have 4 tournys going (maybe some on that other site aswell) and having a break in them all allows me 5 mins to go make a drink visit the bathroom and relax and refocus.

However should that break be on the timed tournament now id be even more considering playing it, and might even play both tournaments.

I can understand a single players point of view that they might say well i have to leave in an hour to do whatever so ill play a 1 hour timed that starts now, but on the whole i believe that some sacrafice is nessessarry for each and every tournament to be stronger.

    Thanks.

Yes, much better now, though it was not a "burn". Pretty scary at the time, to be honest, & it occasioned my first ever "sickie" from work in my entire life, & I started work almost 50 years ago.

How did you hear about it, if I may ask? I never made it known, or not that I recall.

    Anyway, thank you for asking.

Still no synchronised break in the Mini Super Bounty Hunter?

It's the first MTT I've played for a couple of weeks without one.

Don't often play the mini & main so was a bit surprised that they weren't synched.  Its probably a programming error and hopefully will be rectified next week.

synchronised breaks for MTTs is a great addition and just common sense in my oppinion. How anyone can argue against them is beyond me. Now bring in re-sizable tables and I'll be chuffed to bits
