Poker of life

Hi folks,
I hope that you'll read this and not put your eyes to the ceiling....

I've just seen a programme called Great Ormond street about children receiving heart transplants. They are dealt cards in life and have decisions made for them which no one that age should have to face.
One lovely boy after years of problems had a transplant and the editors put a short message on the screen saying that six months later Sol had died.
The fear in his eyes when the doctor had talked to him about his problems was heart wrenching and i'm unashamed to say that i was tearful at the end of it.

God, let's just decide to enjoy our time on this earth, eh as others don't have the opportunity? Poker with cards is a game which can be full of frustration but we choose to play it. Some children have to play 'poker' with their lives, often unsuccessfully. They don't CHOOSE. Let us choose to enjoy our lives as if we don't make choices then we live our lives by default.

It took a tragedy in my life to make me realise....please don't let it be the same for you.

Sorry but i just wanted to say....
"ALL IN FAVOUR?"......

    Thanks Tikay,

I just felt the need to put something as it tugged at my heart strings and certainly put into perspective my AA being busted by 75 suited last night(mind the busting made me smile later on)
If someone does something worthwhile for themselves or someone else after seeing this then success, eh?
Hope you're well after your burning!

I find programmes like that so hard to watch these days. The emotion becomes very hard to handle. I had a wonderful email from Great Ormond St when I made a donation on behalf of a friend (and no that's NOT a brag it was a very small amount) and when I read the email it made me feel so proud I had done something. It's a charity well worth supporting as these kids are our future and they all deserve the best chance possible.

    A beautiful post,

A friend of mine lost his 18 year old son last weekend in a car crash.  Even though he was 18, he was still his "wee boy" and always will be

No parent should every have to outlive their children

What a terrible thing to happen to a child of yours. "A parent should never outlive a parent" was exactly what my mother used to say after we lost my brother Mark. She never got really got over it. I've tried to cope by putting 'him' inside me so that what i experience he does. Its just a way of coping, isn't it....cheers
