Eyesight test??

Hi all,
I was wondering has any one else ever noticed this?

I don't multi-table , usually only a couple of tables at a time (3 for the DTD) and not in mini-view.
I always seem to pay more attention (and do better) on the table on the left of the screen.
Is this because we read left to right and our eyes are naturally drawn to that side or do i need to go to the opticians !!!

I find its depending on the way my monitor is tilted tbh. The way i sit i have to move the monitor to accord with my eyes. I raised T4s the other day from the BTN thinking i raised A4s because the monitor was tilted wrong.

    Co-incidence surely? :P

Do you know you can cascade your tables, with maybe 1/2 a cm of overlap, and let 'auto focus' bring the table to the top which requires you to make an action?

You can ofc still manually click a table, and drag it to the side if you want to see the end of a particular hand/finish typing in chat or whatever, and then put it back where it was again.....

Layer all 3 on the left side of the screen and leave the right hand side free to satisfy your curiosity :P

I have been toying with this idea myself for quite a while.

One things for sure......If a put a table in the top right hand corner, I usually don't do so well, infact I do pretty miserably in all honesty.

I call it the "L Factor" Tables on the top left, bottom left and to the bottom right in an "L Shape" seem to do ok (Although this is just an observation and has not been scientifically proven)

This may be more closely related to men only using part of their brain at a single time or is that just me?) anyway......women on the other hand may not have such problems as they are able to process multiple pieces of information simultaneously, more commonly known as multitasking.

When I play the Monday DTD the 7.15 deepy which is the 1st to open, I usually put this table in the top right hand corner, after a few weeks I noticed I always did well in the other tournies 7.45 deepy (Top Left) and the 8.30pm Take on Tikay Bottom Right.

What is more wiered is.........When I bust out of the 7.15 deepy (Top Right) I then move one of the other tournies into its place, only to find that I suddenly go busto in that one too and so on.

ps. I normally do much better with ALL tables in mini view and in an "L Shape" formation.

I have many more rituals when playing online poker........such as not having a gap between the edge of the table and the side of the screen lol, but this is just the tip of the iceburg. :)

    Hi Mick,
To be honest m8 dont go to the opticians, & forget some more mirrors just attach a 2nd screen.
Two days ago i was in the same boat as you, not great with the multitabling or miniview till I read a thread which showed how to set up 2 monitors & life has been so much better with each table on its own screen.
Am actually looking forward to DTD this week lol

Interesting points but Trevor your confusing me. You say you have the tables in an "L" shape but then say you put the 7-15 in the top right so this would make it a reverse "L" shape? Personally I go for the "L"" shape too but for some reason I always put the deepies along the bottom and the Totty top left. My record in the Totty is pretty poor compared to the deepies but is it poor because I put it top left or do I put it top left and find myself concentrating more on the deepies because I know I never do as well in the Totty? Next week I'll move them around and see what happens but I think it's just coincidence.

What i'm saying is ...................Over a period of time whilst playing the DTD I noticed tournies in the top right hand side of the screen wern't doing so well. Also when I got knocked out of the 7.15 deepy, I moved the other tournies into its place and they also suffered the same fate.

So therefore I have recently changed to "L Shape" Formation and found that I did much better, but I still have a habbit of puting a table in the top right hand corner.

Obviously now I know its not just me I will make a permanent adjustment to the "L Shape" Formation and obliterate everyone in my path (This may also not be a scientific fact)  :)

    hi Mick,
    interesting thoughts.
i am left handed myself so naturally favour my left hand, foot etc.
i also load up my tables starting in the left hand top corner then adding each one accordingly...
like a jigsaw puzzle, piece by piece until my screen is full.
funny really ,coz i did enjoy jigsaw puzzles as a kid, think 3000 pieces from memory being the  largest.
they do say men never grow up ....don,t they.

    Haha you're right there , had a Scalextric for my 30th Birthday ! :-)
I think i'm slightly ambidextrous as i throw a ball with my left hand and bowl a cricket ball with my right!
Also play pool and darts left handed, but write right-handed.
    No wonder my brains confused!!!

Now go get your roll back up where it belongs !

FWIW, I'd go with the OP's view that we generally read (in the Western World) from left to right. I stick the first screen there, then tile them across.

I suspect we then have 2 things to consider.

    1. Do we play better in tournaments that all start at the same time (or if the case of DTD - will we always do better in the first tournament? - The progression of the blinds means I often find myself playing much more loosely (yes, even more loosely) in the tournaments that are 2nd or 3rd in progression during the night).

    2. Do people who naturally read right to left have the opposite experience?

Try putting the first tournament top right and tile leftwards and see what happens. Ask our Arabic / Chinese friends what they notice.

    Interesting stuff.

i feel slightly self conscious now :-).
i got 2 screens and the tables pop up on my left screen so i just drag them over out the way onto the other one, hence i go right to left when playing. i also "dress" to the right, is that normal??????
