I don't think I ever call. On the flop, I decide that either:

    1) TPGK + OESD is good enough, and shove, or
    2) TPGK is already behind and even if I hit my draw, I'm likely chopping with another player, or some of my outs are taken by a flush draw.

Calling? Nah, don't like it. I think it's probably a fold here tbh.

Think I'm with pingu on all counts here. Not loving the call on flop or turn to be honest. Got both covered so I much prefer shove and put them to test there and then if they commit whole stack to it, and on turn I don't love the call when could already be dead to flush. better spots surely than this.

I'm going to go one step further and say I don't like calling pre-flop. We're (seemingly) short-handed and I think alot of the time we should expect to be 3-bet out of the blinds, and on those occasions we're going to be donating 500 to the pot without ever seeing a flop. Even on the occasions when we do see a flop, I'm not sure the effective stack of 34BB is really deep enough to be playing J9s, even in position. It's not a hand that we can be happy flopping one-pair with and playing it as a drawing hand is not really something we can be doing this short. I don't mind 3-betting with the hand from the button but I don't like the call.

On the flop, I agree with EvilPingu and Kam99 that calling is not ideal. I don't think of our 9 as being a good kicker, since the best Jack we're beating is now J7, but I do agree that it's probably a spot to either shove with top-pair and an open-ended straight draw or it's a fold. When you call pre-flop with J9 it's probably bad to now fold on one of the best conceivable flops for your hand, so I guess that means it's a shove.

On the turn the flush draw has come in, we've missed our straight draw and the best hand we're beating is still J7. On top of that, we're still three-handed after the flop action. We should assume that, even if we're not drawing dead, our straight outs have reduced to 6 and we're very unlikely to win the hand without improving. It's got to be a fold now facing a near pot-size shove with a player still to act behind.

So I don't like how you played the hand from the start, I'm afraid.

Thanks for your advice, was not entirely happy with how I played the hand.

A had AQ off, so I had that crushed.

B had 5,6 of spades for the win
