Okay so, everyone is pretty much agreed that the 1/10 sats to get to the 2-day SPT's are super redic to qualify through.. Plus the £198 nightly layover could be transferred into an extra 2 seats (plus cash) using the 1/5 method.. thus

How about>>>>>>

£1.74 sat + rake (1 in 5 qualify) - Micro feeder sat in qtr sat (hourly)

into

x 5 = £8.80 + rake (1 in 5 qualify) - Quarter sat (three times a day)

into

x 5 = £44 (1 in 5 qualify) - Semi sat (every evening)

into

SPT Blackpool seat (wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii)

The other thread got a bit derailed so I've started a new thread thinking if we get enough support we can maybe ask for this to go upstairs to the 'suits' for consideration...

xx

I can see why people want 1 in 10 but imo 1 in 5 is far better

yea totally agree trip5,have a mate who has so far put £300 into qualifying and now not sure what to do either wait and see if direct buy in or give up!if he buys in then the seat has cost him over £500.im in but we have booked hotel so he is coming anyway.but not sure if they could change the format half way through?

Probably a bit late the cfhange the current format. Im willing to put £10 more in then ill be just buying in direct if it opens up or on the day via alternates.

I think however a full improvement can be made to the sat system on sky.

1 in 10 S&Gs im sure would be popular if you add steps options.

This is the exact structure I slammed in the other post the other day. Would be much better than the current 1-in-10 system.

The 1 in 10 for these satellites is comparable to cashing in a standard tourney. Yes the bubble can be a pair in the rear but it's no different than any other sat. Rather than spend time on here complaining about the structure, do a search for satellite strategy on google and read and inwardly digest. I'm a very LAG player normally but when I'm in Sat mode, my game is completely different. The phrase 'tight is right' was invented for sats.
Type 'poker satellite strategy' into google and the article from pokerplayer magazine is a good one.

I'd have put yes for 1 in 5.

Why don't Sky run a trial of alternative days, one day the 1/10 format runs, the next day the 1/5 format runs and so on, we will soon see which is the more popular.

I may be the person accused of hijacking the previous thread but here is the point I was trying to make:

I qualified for the tournament a while ago but I have railed five or six of the other satellites. If I wanted to, I'm pretty confident that I could qualify again through those satellites because the standard in them has not been great. Watching final tables I have frequently seen mistake after mistake after mistake. These mistakes are not necessarily coming from bad players but they are coming from players that seemingly do not understand satellite strategy.

It's certainly possible to run bad and have the satellites cost you £300 even if you play a good satellite strategy. However, it's more likely that if it's costing you that much, you're losing out to players who understand the satellite strategy better than you. That's not a criticism of a player's understanding of hold 'em, it's just that satellite play is different. In the same way that you need different strategies in MTT's to cash, you need different strategies in satellites and it's something alot of players don't seem to realise.

I'm not saying that the 1:10 satellites are easy because of course they not, but nor are they crapshoots. Making the semi satellites 1:5 wouldn't make it easier to qualify for a small amount, though it would make it easier to qualify if you could afford to buy straight into the £44 sat or play multiple £8 sats. I couldn't have afforded that.

Borin loner I posted on the other thread I started about it being hijacked but I wasn't thinking of you. Re players making mistakes, I'll admit I was one with a humungous error when I had a seat all but sewn up. But in my defence this is new territory for me and I think nervous energy got the better of me. When I read Trip5's post this morning I was in favour but as Mohican has said 1:10 is comparible to cashing in an MTTso I'm a bit torn now. I can't help thinking though that those who have already qualified will say 1:10 is right and those who haven't will say 1:5. That may be stating the obvious!

1/10 makes it cheap enough for everybody, I work all day and dont have time to play multiple sats to get in, and I know there are other players who cant make the 5 quid sats to get to the semi sat and pay 24 quid so would they then have to pay 44 quid for a 1/5 semi?

    Rab ;p

I can also guarantee that if you move to £8 and £44 sats, there will be a post complaining about lower stakes players being priced outta sats etc!!!!
