Hi everyoneBeen playing for nine months now, not a winning player but gaining experience. The last month I started not to enjoy the game as much as I did, so I had a rest for a week, look over what I was doing, the first thing I noticed i was playing to much, every day, when I came home from work 10pm until 2am most days, all day sat and sun, also played to many different games, some day cash another day tourneys then dyms, didn’t now where I was, I also started playing 4 table cash 2/4p did ok but not winning if that make scence.I am only playing one table now dym no rush, play at my own pace, enjoying again. If I can give any tip to anybody who found themselves in the same position as me is, take a break and look at what you been doing,  Glen

    Hi Glen,

When i started 5 months ago , with £50 , i didn't know what games to play or what suited my style.
Started playing DYM's and a little cash and a few low stakes MTT's.

    Was totally lost on cash.
    MTT's are high variance.

Had a big downswing to start with so i decided to stick to £1 DYM's and made a bit of money from them so i moved up to the £2 and £3 games.
Only play 2 or 3 tables at a time.

Play in the DTD on a Monday night and managed to win one Deepstack a couple weeks ago for £90 :-)

So my strategy at the moment is play DYM's to fund my small MTT games.

    Hope this makes sense.
    Keep the faith !

    Thanks
That's what i decided to do, play £2.30 Dyms 1 table at a time until i get some sort of br, then move to 2 tables and so on, also cut the amount of hours i was living on the tables not good doing my head in.

Yeah I get bored of poker a lot. But I find that if I play a different form of poker now and again is helps to keep it interesting. For instance if I get bored of DYMs I might play a bit of cash and visa versa, and it seems to help.  And if I want a bit of fun I just play heads-up cause you're always doing something and it can be quite full on... but that's just me!

    hi Glen,
i,m playing dym atm,9-12 tables which is good 4 c4p so even if i only manage a break-even month playing going to get something from c4p.
if i get bored, which only happens when i get on a downswing,i play some cash which helps to break things up.
i find dym easier to win at than cash,as the rake at nl4 is quite high...imo.
my advice 4wiw, learn 2 beat dym,s first, then if u like mix in some cash mtt,etc to give u a change,
also certainly 4 dym ,playing more tables rather than less is preferable, again imo.
    "just saying"
    :-)

I think varying the type of games you play is essential. The grinders who play 6, 8 10 cash tables all seem to say it's pretty boring day in out. After I had been here a couple of weeks I found the deepstacks to my liking and thats where 90% of my play is. Survivor has also become a regular thing. I tried a full week just playing cash and although profitable got bored within a week.I'll now use the odd cash session and some HU or DYM's to add some variety. And if I get bored of all that I know it's time to take a break. And those who have said they are bored already then why bother playing. do something you will enjoy instead!

I never said i was board, just lost the enjoyment i had when i started, i still think it was the amount of time i was playing, also trying to get c4p, i don't bother with that now, if i get enough points well great but i will not go chasing them, i feel better about my poker now that i had a break, i wont be playing as many hours as i did.
