Min raises into big pots

If i see you raise 4p into a pot that's bigger than 12p from now on i'm going to use my time bar up for EVERY decision in that session from there on in. If you're going to annoy me i'm just going to annoy you back.

Yes i am that petty.*

*Disclaimer: this is actually somewhat tongue in cheek and is meant to start discussion on this (what appears to be) new Sky Poker-specific play.

I personally don't see an issue with players doing this at this level - If a player min bets then you should re-raise to a value that suits the strength of your hand and the pot value. (ABC Poker)

At 2p/4p levels you are going to get min bets and min raises quite a lot - lets not forget this is where a lot of people are learning how to play the game with the minimum amount of risk, its not WSOP level and it should be quite easy for any seasoned player to deal with.

    Best of Luck.

Yeah it's extremely easy to deal with it's just a little annoyance and seems to be absolutely pointless.

Probably seams pointless to more experienced players but not if you are a beginner.

With somewhere in the region of 500+ new players joining Sky Poker every week/month etc, I think this trend of play is set to continue.

TBO - its quite funny when you see a min raise at much higher levels, a red warning flag pops up in our brain and we automatically assume a player is slow playing a monster but seeing it done at the lower levels we have the opposite reaction and assume a player is just trying to get into a cheap pot or fishing.

    Thoughts?

    ^ haha i noticed that ;)

I don't think it's a case of getting into pots cheap basic common sense would say 'why'? Why would someone think that donk leading 4p into a pot of over a quid on every street where the opponent is firing would be a good thing? I don't know, but i just look at it as a check and act accordingly.

It's just one of those little annoyances that grates on me but doesn't change the way i play and i'm quite comfortable with it. It's like someone who goes instantly all in with KK or AA - it's simple to play against but you just look and go 'that's so pointless'. Maybe it's a need to help people inside me or something i dunno.

iv raised x3 pre some times at 10nl got 1 caller. Some times if the opponent is poor u just min bet and they fold. lol sometimes you bet 10p into a 1.20 pot they just fold :P I dont do it often as there is no need but it is funny seeing people fold. guess they have 2 choices. Fold or raise

It's like betting 20 into a pot of 200 in an MTT. I've seen people do it on the flop then turn and fold on the river when they get min raised, and also do the same then bet 10 times bigger on the river and show that they had the best hand possible from the flop. Both are totally pointless.

When my son used to put all sorts of horrible stuff in his mouth as a one year old I used think how ridiculous, but of course it was an invaluable lesson to him.

23 years later he's stopped putting carp in his mouth, but for some reason a lot of what he does is still ridiculous!
