Hi all,

There’s another live show on Channel 865 this Tuesday night and I’m doing it. The good news for me is I’m sat alongside Jen Mason, who we all know is excellent on the show.

The bad news is I’m going to miss the England game. L

I’m rather hoping though that you can all keep me up-to-date as well as keeping the emails and posts coming in to the show whilst it’s on, otherwise it might be  a very, very quiet night indeed!

We’ll have Sky Poker School and Chatbox, details to follow.

Also competition time…

Design the ultimate poker room/casino.

No pictures please, just descriptions. If you were building your own live poker room from scratch, what would be in it/what would you lay on?

Think of it as a kind of “If a famous lager company made casinos…” style question.

Here’s a couple from me:

Encourage a 50/50 mix of men and women.

Ban or penalise anybody with a bad attitude on the tables, keep the atmos friendly.

Ban iPods and shades.

Over to you guys- the best ones will receive prizes!

    Hi Richard and Jen

Have a good one...  Jen, could you please have a little rant so we don't miss Tikay too much?  Will we get podcasts from Vegas?

My ideal poker room would have:

Adjustable seats for our varying sizes etc
Good lighting cause I am visually impaired and it would help the rest of you to see better too. ☀
Plenty space between the bodies for obvious reasons.
A super efficient extractor fan for evil odours including body spray, b.o. and smoke cause I don't like any of them.

    It would ban:

Drunks (although they may make mistakes they are annoying).
Loud mouths unless they are very funny.
Curly-lippy things (learn to take the knocks with the same grace as the wins cause if you lost this time, you might win next time).

I have only played live once and this list is from my memories of that night.  It is probably best that I stay at home and play lol.

It would have a Chinese restaurant as an integral part of the poker room and everyone would last until dinner break to sample the food on offer... oh.

    Lol- highly amusing, Aaron.

I'll have you know I once sampled the dinner in a poker tournament. I think it was in 2005. Or maybe 2006...

Went to the Vic Casino in London last night and I'd like to add a new thing to the list:

The dealer in my perfect casino shall deal the cards in such a way that if he's going to give me QQ on the button and KK to the big blind (who's got me well covered for chips), then at least have the decency to make it the hand BEFORE the break and not the first hand immediately AFTER the break.

    Sigh...

    Hi guys,

As far as the casino goes, I have never played live yet but I would suggest that

    1) The house has to provide a "Rich Orford" on every table

    2) Players with a proven winning record are banned.

    3) All the dealers look like Anna Fowler.

    4) 4  colour decks used  - I would be confused if the cards were just Red & Black.

Dont worry about the football either Rich, your the lucky one with Jen to chat to for 5 hours, you will probably learn more than 5 years with Tikay.

ps with regard to (1) I meant someone witty, charming & articulate to ensure a great atmosphere at the table - Before you think I meant anything different!!

    Enjoy the show guys

    Mike

I'm going to go with my favourite B-ender quote from futurama.

I'm going to build my own casino with blackjack and hookers. In fact forget the casino! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z5tZMDBXTRQ

My perfect casino would be built in which ever area of the world has statistically the worst players in the world, combined with the largest bankrolls. The beer always free, the woman all stunning, and my play to run like mercier whenever I sit down.

    We can all dream.

Some really good suggestions so far- genuinely useful ones and some funny ones as well.

A mixture of both will be great!

I'll award prizes to both sorts.

    :-)

PS- The England game is overated anyway. We're practically through to the quarters, so no need not to have Sky Poker on tonight!

PPS- Ok, ok. Well, at least you'll be tuning in from 9.30pm right?

My ideal Casino - Well lit room, not dingy.
                             No alcohol served to anyone
Use of deodarant and mouthspray compulsory on en entering the casino
Comfortable chairs (but not too comfortable, I don't want too doze off)
Chips weighted according to their value and some sort of weighing devices and digital display to show the pot size as i am abissmal at working out how much is in the pot ;D
For cash games, someone to forceably drag you away from the table when you are running really bad or when you are well up for the night.
                             No ipads-ipods-i-whatevers.

    Hi Guys,

Hope you have a good show.  I'll be streaming and watching footie!

I'm gonna go against the grain here. Whilst the "sanitised" versions are all very nice, I've never played live and would like to experience the "old-style" poker room you see in the movies.  You know, the one where the smoke hangs over the tables like a fog,  theres a guy playing a piano in the background, they only serve whiskey at the bar and you have to leave guns, iphones, ipods, and egos at the door.  It would be called "The Sundance".

    Nice posts, guys and girls.

A few hours till we go live- don't forget to stick us on before and after the match, and maybe even during!

I have 3 Lucky 7s tournament seats for Sunday's game to give away to the best suggestions for the ideal poker room, some great suggestions so far.

Is there anyone out there who isn't interested in the footy tonight? I'd love to hear from you!

Also tonight- Tikay on the blower, live from Vegas just after 10pm with all the news as, just like the England team, our very own squad of lads head abroad to compete on the biggest stage whilst flying our colours.

Sky Poker School at 9pm should be a good one tonight.

The topic is 'Star Plays' and we've pulled out a load of hands which demonstrate excellent play- bluffs, value bets, laydowns etc.

    Can you add to it?

Have a little look through your hand history and send us those hands that you were particularly pleased with- no 7-2os cracking Aces please, unless you played it to perfection.

It's your chance to show off, but make sure it genuinely is a case of a skilful piece of play. Monster laydowns, inducing all-ins, etc etc.

    Over to you!

it would make live poker so much better if ...

    (a)   there was a USB port for my mouse.

    (b)   the dealer would ask me, "are you sure you want to fold? you can call."

    (c)   i were able to press a button making everyone stand up and move in a circle around the table until i am seated in my favourite seat.

have a good show, rich and jen.

Thanks guys- 2 hours till kickoff.

That's kickoff for tonight's live show, NOT kickoff in the Euros!

Just been chatting to the lovely Jen Mason and we've been through all the subjects in Chatbox. It's a WSOP special and honestly, it's really interesting- there's absolutely shedloads of great stories and interesting anecdotes from this year's series, so don't miss that!

The ideal Casino/poker room would be one that I could walk to from my house, instead of having at least an hours drive back, especially when in the early hours of the morning.
