Live cash poker, topping-up question

When playing in a live cash game at a casion, what is the etiquette for topping-up. Say I'm playing a 50p/£1 game and I sit in with the max £100 at what point do I buy more chips from the dealer. When playing online I either auto-top up to the max or (since Sky doesn't have the auto-top up feature) manually top up to the max at every oppertunity. Having never, ever played a live cash game I have often wondered how this works.

On the few times i have played you just tell the dealer at the end of a hand that you want to tpo up and how much. At this point they usually call over the pit boss who handles the money side of things. The dealer will announce to the table that you have an extra x amount of money behind aswell as your stack continue dealing while the pit boss changes your money for chips the whole process usually only takes about a minute

Over-complicating it much. If I was you, I'd just have an extra amount of £ in chips in my pocket, that you can add to your stack without holding up the game. Other than that, asking the dealer for change between hands is the norm and perfectly acceptable.

Most casinos allow you to buy-in for 200bb.  I'd advocate buying in for this amount and only topping up when you fall below 100bb.  The main reason is that if you are constantly topping up you are giving away free information.
