Ghost Players

I just wanted to post this up to see if anyone else has had similar problems...

I registered for a satellite into the £2k BH earlier today, when I registered I was the 7th person and that was the total number of runners it got. Then when it started, my name was in the lobby, the buy-in had been taken, but 1 table of 6 players loaded (and I was not on it). My name stayed in the lobby the whole time and my chips never went down cos obviously I wasn't paying blinds.

I got numerous excuses/suggestions from CC like...

1) The tournament had a maximum of 6 entrants   (lol)

2) Go to 'My Sky Poker' and 'My Tables' and I'll be able to find it, despite the fact I explained 3-4 times that it wasn't that I couldn't get onto my table, I was looking at the lobby and my table did not exist.

I know someone else who has experienced the exact same problem tonight. I got my rebuy back and was given free entry into a £2k BH sat later in the evening (which I donked out of lol). The other person I know got a refund but nothing else.

Just wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing this. I am obviously not complaining that I got a free entry to the next sat, and frankly I think it's only fair because I wanted to play that sat at that particular time when it was convenient, but I don't think it's fair that some people get it and some don't.

Are you a ghost?

Just had the same thing with an entry into a £5.50 Timed tourney was in the lobby but at no table so blinds never went down. Spoke to CC & got an almost instant refund as if it was a common problem tonight. He just said I can see you have played no hands so theres your money back

    Hi All,

Thanks for making us aware of this, we are looking at it now.

We suspect there's perhaps a very small window, possibly a second or less, where if you buy in to a tournament (which is not late reg) at the very moment it starts, which can cause this scenario.

It's unlikely we will be able to confirm this until the morning and then work a solution, but if this does seem to affect you this evening then please get in touch with customer care for assitance and they will refund you your buy in as you have been unable to play. It does not appear to impact anyone else who plays the tournament, it will play and pay out correctly and seems likely to be a rare occurrance.

Thanks for your patience as we investigate and apologies for any of you affected

    Best Wishes

    I satted into the £2k BH @ 21:30 in 2nd place,
so I should have got back £11 as I was already registered,
but I was awarded 35th place, last.
If 35 players, how come 7 qualify, 8th gets £8.80,
and 2nd (yours truly) gets placed last and gets SFA.

The game kept playing until all players were eliminated.

EDIT: just got my £11 back, :), AS A GESTURE OF GOODWILL

    Hi,
Thanks for acknowledging this issue. In the two occasions I have complained today, first via chat then by email, I have been asked to delete cookies and even reboot my laptop. Although a refund was given after my chat, I decided to write an email as I felt the issue had been ignored and connectivity blamed again and since the first step to fix a problem is to acknowledge it, I tried an email instead. I received a prompt reply suggesting I delete cookies, etc again as, I quote, " we are not always liable for issues that do not lie on our side".  Just by looking at the lobby, anybody can tell that something went wrong. I did get my refund, both times actually!, even when I stated that I had already been refunded. I just wanted to make sure the issue was not ignored so it could be avoided in the future as, I was more disappointed about missing the last chance to satellite for the semi tonight than about the £1.60 buy-in.
All I am trying to say is that there are situations where, with a little investigation, connectivity issues can be discarded straight away and, in such situations, the type of responses I received today do not help restoring confidence.

Sorry I also forgot to say that in my opinion Mr Sky Poker that was the best response on a thread with regards to the possibility of a problem, and the intentions to solve it. Nice job.

    Thanks again

+1 Mike, definitely best response, that doesn't just sound like a textbook answer.

Yeah I registered in the last second too... problem solved ;)  or at least the cause is found.

Just happened to me for the £500 BH. Went into live chat with CC and they were adament it was my fault, even though i had other tables open, that it was a fault with my laptop/software. eventually after i looked in the forums and noticed the ghost players thread and then mentioned it them, suddenly i was re-imbursed the £11 as a "goodwill gesture". just mad i can;t play it

"Goodwill Gesture" = Standard Customer Care speak for "We tried to scr ew you over, but you weren't stupid enough to fall for it so we're going to give you what you were owed anyway".

    Hi Everyone,

We have a solution for this which we will be aiming to release tomorrow morning during a short site outage (7am - 8am)

Apologies to all of you who have been affected so far, please continue to contact c/care for a refund if this happens in the meantime before we release the resolution.

We will cross reference all those affected tomorrow to ensure they were refunded and credit manually if necessary.

    Best Wishes

    NOT HAPPY.

I regestered for the 19.05 £3.30 30 min timed tourny but was only shown in the lobby and never on any tables.  As this is a known problem I Emailed sky

I registered for the 19.05 timed tournament and my name is in the lobby but I'm not on any table. I can see that this is a known issue. Could you please refund me the buy in.

    Many thanks

    Mark

This is despite the touney not making its gaurentee and my chips were worth about £3.40 dispite not being in any hand.  All good until I checked my Email and saw this

    Hi Mark,

    Thanks for your email.

I can see that you are actually in the game now and are able to play, as you have been in hands previously, as you raised all in.

As this is the case we would not be refunding you for this I'm afraid, as you are playing and have a chance to win.

    Kind Regards,

This was sent almost an hour after the tourny closed!  Unless I receive an appology very quickly from sky I will be consulting lawyers as this is libel and withdrawing my bankroll.  I'm by no means the biggest roll on sky but my good name means more to me than any money.  NOT a happy bunny
