When is late reg going to be a permanent fixture on sky MTT's?

As far as I can see late reg is welcomed by the majority of the community, the last time it was rolled out nothing crashed mtt wise, its inflating mtt prizepools making them more lucrative.

So when are sky going to make this a permanent feature of their MTTs?

The sooner the better!  Though the software messed up recently, taking late entries after time for late entries was up.Still I'm sure that's just a software glitch they will sort out. There are things I like about Sky Poker, but in many ways it's a stone age site.

There are lots of reasons, for instance... some people wanna play the Main Event and don't get home til 8:10pm.

It can only be good news really anyway because it just increases the amount of money in the prizepool.

It helps Sky out because it means they should pretty much never have a tournament that runs with overlay.

Think should introduce late reg but only for 15 - 30 mins, not the full hour.

Question for Sky, if this does get brought out is it only going to be used for tourneys that have a guaranteed prize pool. I dont play main events but i do play MTTs, and to be honest i cant see any use for this in tourneys that dont have a guaranteed prize pool.

I did post above but the use is this...

    A) People who wanted to play a particular MTT but just missed it by a few minutes still get to play

    B) Alot more people register, so alot more money in the prizepool :)

I will ask, & find out for you Chewy, but if I recall correctly, no, it will not be ALL MTT's.

I am 99% certain it will be all Main Events & "Headline Tourneys" though.

It's an odd thing, loads & loads of people have complained that Sky Poker did not have Late Registration, now we are starting to get complaints that we do, or will, have it!

Thank you Tikay, my post was a question not a complaint. If as you say you are "99% certain it will be all Main Events & Headline Tourneys " then whatever happens will not affect me.

Mick..... or Chewy, once again thanks for finding out for me Tikayyyy .. :)))))

    Hi Mick, no worries.

I may have worded my reply badly - I was NOT suggesting YOU were complaining, just making an observation
    .

It's like music really - some people like, say, "The Smiths", some think they are tosh. Radio 1 has to play their "songs" (I use the word loosely) though, as they have to try & please all sectors of their audience.

After much urging, "Synchronised Breaks" arrived here - & we were immediately flooded with complaints. One Gentleman complained that on a Tourney that began at 40 minutes past the hour, the synchro break (always 55 minutes past the hour) was too soon, and said "could you vary the time of the synchronised breaks?"....... ;)

Quite a big ask to make everyone happy.

" The Smiths, some think they are tosh " +1 for that, it really dosent matter what Sky do or try to do  they will never ever make everyone happy. At the end of the day its all about trying to balance things out & trying to keep most of the people happy some of the time, well something like that anyway but you know what i mean... :)))

Tikay, you said that you would ask & find out 4 me.Since you hadent got back 2 me i thought that you were correct in saying that you were 99% certain it will only be Main Events & "Headline Tourneys ".
Ive just played the 8-15pm Deepstack & surprise surprise its now a Late Reg tourney, is this just going 2 be for the weekend deepstack tourneys or are Sky going 2 make this tourney a Late Reg one full stop.
Once again this is a question not a complaint.

Why would that be a good thing ?? I played in a £200 tourney last night with just 21 runners, after late reg there were 42 runners which only added another £10 to the prize pool but added another 21 people with a chance to win that tourney.A question for you , if you were 1 of the 1st 21 runners would you be happy 2 see another 21 people in with a chance to win the tourney all for another £10 ???????

    Hi Mick.

I had forgotten all about this thread, sorry.

I THINK the current plan is that Late Reg will apply to all or most Tourneys which have a Guarantee. I'm not sure if it will apply to non-Guaranteed Tourneys.

It will apply to ALL Main Events, unless they are rebuys.

It is UNLIKELY to apply to all the Rollers, especially the higher value ones.

It does not apply to some satellites.

The most important thing with these is that NONE OF THEM are cast in stone - everything about Late Reg is still on trial, & this will continue for a while yet, to see how it performs both for Clients, & the Business.

    as a request and/or a suggestion...

can late registration be open for 30 minutes or 3 levels whichever the shorter?

i find that the variation in late registration periods is confusing and results in many clicks to repeatedly check when late registration closes.  it would be time saving for all to know there is standardisation here.  personally, i think the maximum period for late registration need be no more than 15 minutes, but i see how attractive it is by reducing an overlay.

standardisation would be helpful and a shorter maximum period would be preferable.

Rob makes a good & fair point.

However, there is an obverse, too.

Tourneys vary so much in duration, structure, clock, etc, that making them all identical would create some daft anomolies.

I'm not sure if other sites standardise it, either, not that it matters I guess. We own our own plough, so we don't mind creating our very own furrow.....

As with everything in Late Reg though, they are still in the "trial & error" stage, & they will continue to be fettled fiffed & faffed with for a while yet, & all feedback will be noted.

Off topic diversion - has the Penguin Enclosure at Edingburgh's very fine Zoo re-opened yet?
The Daily Penguin Parade is the greatest!

They used to have a 24/7 Penguin Cam Live Stream, but when the Penguin Enclosure was being refurbed, they replaced it with a Panda Cam, & Pandas are a bit boring, they just sleep, all day.

Other sites vary the length of late reg but the MTTs are pretty much put in big groups.

The site I'm thinking of has:

    1)  Standard 1 hour late reg for most MTTs
    2)  Two hours late reg for low to mid stake special or big ones
    3)  Three hours late reg for their 'major' events

As far as Sky goes I'd like to see a similar structure with most MTTs having a one hour late reg period and big events (Rollers, UKOPS) having a two hour period.  However I fully accept the likelihood of finding the structure to please every player is exceptionally small.

    diversion accepted...

the funny thing about edinburgh zoo is that as it is built on a hillside the popularity of the animals is directly proportionate to their location.  the penguins are always popular as they are only half way up the hill, the pandas too.  but go higher and the poor animals are hardly ever visited.  i heard that there are some animals at the top of the hill, but nobody has been up there to find out what they are.

    now back to late registration...
