Cash for points query

Hi everyone, I am relatively new to sky poker and i have been playing for around the 3 week mark now. Things are going well but i have a few questions about the cash for points scheme.

I was watching the sky poker channel last night and ryan (scotty) was talking about it and that some players use it as there income. I am wondering how they manage to build up their bonus to such a level and how it is sustainable. I am guessing players that do this aren't the greatest poker players (otherwise they would be able to live of their winnings) so how can they afford to do this if they are not always winning.

I would be grateful to anyone who can spend time answering this.

Thanks

By playing 100'000's of hands at a level which gives a decent amount of rake. Most of these players do play for a living and use this money to top up their income slightly, others might have a bad month and this money puts them to break even or smallprofit.

Hi chappers, to get the amount of points Ryan was talking about you need to be playing at the higher stakes and still putting in some serious volume.

This can be worthwhile for non winning players as they can make about 2 grand from c4p's, but they still need to be breaking even in the games.

I would think that the players Ryan was speaking of would be the very tight regs who play in excess of 8 to 10 tables at a time and while they still win hands they wont be winning as big because of the very tight range they play and the fact that other players wont give them action.

At the same time though they wont ever be losing big either because they know how to fold.

These 2 things combined make them overall break even players at poker but because they are multitabling for alot of hours 7 days a week they are also generating alot of cash for points.

So at the end of the month the cash for points becomes the profit.

    Hope this helps mate.

And good luck on the site.

    Daz.

I play 10nl. mainly HU but last 2 days iv played 8 - 10 tables of ring and i now have 2800 points, hu you dont get much cash for points< but like the others say. Higher stakes you are the more c4p you will earn

All the previous replies have hit the nail on the head really, especially Arazi's

Remember in poker it is quite hard to just break even, so to play a large amount of volume and break even is an achievement in itself.

Hi Chappers also look at the prority+ where there is an increase on the players points if they make the priorty club 3 months in a row.

You when you look at the payouts you can use your c4p as a top up on either your bankroll or a big chunk of what a player wants to take as an income without decreasing your bankroll too much.

But to acheive these levels you do need to be playing either higher cash games or DYM/STG but multi a good number of tables for a lot of hours a day. So to earn a living you do have to work more hours then a 9-5 job lol
