Set Poker

Played on sky poker for a while now but pairs just don't feel right on sky, I might be being silly but say if I was playing a few diff sites and I had a pair or someone else did I would be set mining and it normally take quite a while to hit one, but on sky poker it seems like it's MUCH easier and obv my opponents seem much easier too, say if I had AQ v 55 it seems as if the 55 would be a 80% fav whereas normally it would only be 55%, I may be wrong just want others opinions please as it feels dodgy/weird.

shall we tell him?  yes?  ok.  you have discovered the secret that only a few know.  it has been kept quiet.  you will soon been inducted into the club of those who know. we meet in an area called 51.

it's surprising how often you see this type of thing. I played in a live tourny yesterday and they always gave river cards to make the locals hit, but not being a local it was always against me.  And I was tripple barreling hard but they knew they could keep calling me down every time. Now where's my aluminium hat.

seriously though, just ask dev, GaryQQQ or any other grinder about how long things can go against you...... or study some advanced stats text books.

I'm not saying it's against me, I'm saying both me and my opponents make more sets than usual imo

So if 55 V AQ is 80 percent favourite ..... why don't you, fold when you have aq.    go all in every time you have 55 !   and U'd be richhh !!!!!

    problem solved?

you'll have periods where u hit sets for fun, and then hit a drought and everyyone hits them for fun

just like flipping a coin, I lost nine flips in a row once - so rigged

Jst it is just variance mate,i dont doubt what you say that recently this has been happening but long-term Sky will just be the same as any other site.

Dont worry about aussie's reply he is only injecting a bit of humour into this thread.

    Hi Rancid,

You were going to be the 3rd name I'd mention, but decided two would be enough. How was the forum donklovefest by the way?

I raised the live example to highlight it's not only on Sky that you get clustering.

For more examples of clustering outside poker take a look here.

    Lol Aussie...

Come on Jst, surely you know this is nothing but variance, and no live venue or online site is every gonna not have this happen.

Take a coin, flip it 100 times, if you break them up into 10 lots of 10 results. 1-10 might be 5heads, 5tails, 11-20 might be 9heads, 1tail, and so on and so on.

Over the 100 it'll probably finish very close to 50/50 but I'm sure you'll get at least one lot of 10 where it goes 8 of one and 2 of the other  (like your 80% chance of 55 winning).

Hmm true, think it's because I lose them when they're vital to win i.e final table or something, feel I run really bad so am gonna make a mtt/sng diary n keep track of my hands and see if I actually do run bad or it's just me being silly.

For what it's worth I played a tourney the other day and hit my set at least 6 times. Same tourney day after I never hit one. Answer? Variance
