ive just registered in an mtt and im having to wait for a long period of time before it joins the table, i dont have the launch table button available either. Im presuming this is because i have to wait for a seat to be free, but surley shouldnt it spit up tables and make a new one when you get late regisrations? this has happend a few times ive entered late and i dont get this on other sites.

    Hi Daz.

In designing this facility to handle the sort of instances you mention, this was the choice.

Assume, say, 36 players (thus exactly 6 full tables) were in when you Late-Regged.

They could EITHER open a new Table, & shuffle players around accordingly,

    or.....

...wait until the next players busts out, which, given the high rate of attrition in the early stages of many Tourneys, is usually quite soon. (I think around 70% of the field bust in the first hour of many tourneys).

Sitting you on a table "alone", awaiting other players to enter or bust, was NOT an option, obviously. You would wait just as long.

We see complaints - a LOT of them - when Tables are balanced, people often think, wrongly, that it is unfair if they get moved from "good" (lots of small stacks) to "bad" (lots of big stacks), or they were sitting comfy on a nice table, & get moved to a "tougher" table or seat. You must have seen loads of such complaints! In truth, it matters not one jot, it is just part & parcel of Tournament Poker, whether played Live, or Online, but given the suspicious nature of many, it had to be considered.

Anyway, on balance, it was thought better to go the former route.

There can also be a "long" waiting period if you Late Reg just before, say, a synch break, for example, where 5 minutes gets added to the "wait".

For the record, I had this instance checked out, & from Late-regging, to being dealt your first hand, it was 3 minutes and 31 seconds which, in the scheme of life, is not really too long, is it?

Time to make a quick cuppa & let the dog out.

Hope that helps explain how it works.

I would add one other point.

It has only been here a few days, & the methodology is not yet cast in stone, & so it will be tweaked & refined in the light of user experience as it goes along.

One matter still to be decided is in the very slow-structured Tourneys, such as the bigger "Rollers".

The attrition rate during the Late Reg of such Tourneys is VERY slow in the early levels, it can take an age for seats to come free, & again, unnecessary table balancing & seat shuffling is not well received generally, especially in long Tourneys.

So I believe that, in the short term anyway, Late Reg will NOT be available in the bigger "Rollers".

thankyou for your response tk. yes that does explain things and i agree it may work for some events but not others and can understand the reasoning behind it especialy with deepstack mtts it would not work. Ive just not come across it before myself. It dosnt bother me to be honest as you say 3 min isnt long to wait really unless its right at the end maybe when blinds have gone up a level. Some players dont like being split up from a table and i suppose if you get 2 or 3 register late as well the tables fill up anyways.

Didnt know if it was a bug or not but ty for clearing it up :)
