Hi all
Why is the rake on DYM's larger on the smaller games, seems a bit reverse Robin Hood to me ( take from the poor ) I play a lot of theese and have a lot of fun, but i play the £3 games as i think the extra 5% is my proffit. Yes i am that bad. Im fairly sure that most players with a limited amount of funds would still spend the same amount but would maybe get an extra game for there buck, i on the other hand would open up a few extra £1 £2 tables making sky more dosh,
What do you think?

A bit like any business tbh - The more you buy the better discount you get.

At My business, If a company wants one roll of tape, I might charge them £1.00/Roll, however, if a company wants 100 rols of the same tape, I might charge them 0.55p/Roll.

Discounts are offered on larger quantities, but bear in mind it costs the same amount for my business to process & deliver both orders (Packaging. time to process, delivery costs etc) So therefore, I need to charge more for the smaller quantity than I do for the larger quantity.

Buy More! Pay Less - Is the rule of thumb.

To be honest, most recreational players don't even factor in rake. There are obviously sites with lower rake than Sky but they don't offer some of the things that Sky do.

And yeah, it will always be the case that higher stakes is lower rake, it'll be this way for every format on every site, it's just the way it is. Personally I'd always recommend if people have a big enough BR and are semi-competent, that they start at £3.30s at least, where they can benefit from 10% (the best it gets) because it makes a massive difference to your ROI.

I wouldn't say you're that bad because you see that 5% as your profit, that's exactly what it is...

Say you play 100 DYMs and win 60 of them...

    If it's a £2.25, you'd have made  £15 profit.

If the rake was only 10% so it was £2.20, you'd have made £20.

Not a massive difference but certainly enough to be worth doing, and to be honest, if you're good enough to beat £2 DYMs, then you can beat £3 DYMs at the same rate so you'll be making more anyway.
