it never works and people constantly complain, yet as always sky will remind us they are sorting it. Posted by CrazyBen23
Not quite true, this one...
We've not have any mention of this from Customer Care, who are the people who tackle a large percentage of queries/reports of issues vs the percentage 'raised' through the Community.
The only recent issues we've been made aware of has been the picture occassionally 'chopping', which we raised with Technology. If you do see that, or anything else, give the folks at CC a shout and we'll hear about it.
Aside: seems to be working fine for me on Chrome and Firefox.
Yeee, hasn't worked in months for me either. Works for about 10 seconds, maybe 15. Then freezes, chops up for abit, then freezes for good. I can close the window and re-open it , watch another 10-15 seconds, then it'll freeze again. So i gave up.

It's honestly the most helpful way for us in the Poker Team to hear about it. Even if they can't fix it, they're able to ask questions about browser types, your set up etc, which gives us more clues when trying to crack the issue. Think of it as detective work with more clues

At the end of the day though, i can watch BBCiplayer online, 4OD , 5 on demand. ITV player, aswell as watching freeview live online. The Sky live stream seems to be the only thing that does not work.
As much as i would love to chat once again to customer care, and get asked my username 4 times and all my security info over and over, and then wait around for ages.... i find this no help at all.
Surely Sky are the losers here, as i (and plenty of others i've chatted to) are unable to watch the show, we are then far less likely to buy into tournaments which are on the show, and play on the mastercash tables which may be featured. Therefore aswell as losing viewing figures, they are also losing rake and eventually players.
With the small amount of tournaments on offer, customers then start playing tournaments elsewhere, and eventually MAY decide to make these other sites their new home.

Totally understand your point and of course we want the stream to running 100% of the time. All I meant to say was that if you do take the time with CC it's appreciated by us and helps us get to where we all want to be
I have the full sky tv package mate but the channel is illeagal in Northern Ireland due to stupid government regulations on gambling so get all the channels apart from sky poker.
sorry but having to have a little moan about this as well
the stream (for me anyway) is now WORSE than when i originally posted 3 or so months ago.
Anna made a comment on the thread about the lack of forum posts last night , well normally i would contribute but the stream was so slow and glitchy for me last night (and for the past two weeks) frankly i couldnt be bothered to keep reloading it every five minutes. Previously a few months ago the stream needed refreshing maybe once every two hours which whilst not ideal was fine.
With respect dave why would customer care be the point of call for a live web stream for a sky tv channel?

Fair question, and nothing wrong with asking it.
Whenever any kind of technical error arises on our sites - Poker or indeed any of its siblings - the same Technology team are 'on call' to look into it. So basically raising it through CC gives us a headstart on treating it, as well as being a better way for us to get precise info about the issue.
I will pick it up with them today to see if they can pick up why some of you are having issues.
i would add in skys defence there is another sky channel (sports based) that you have to pay a monthly sub for that basically looks like it uses very similar technology (being screened from a base tv and the channel number being input preusmably manually every few hours)
This is hosted by a third party host and falls down as well not as often but sometimes. Considering it is a free stream the sky stream is overall pretty good.
I am wondering what has changed from say 18 months ago when it would run fine for me with no freezing at all for hours at a time?

Nothing has fundamentally changed on the techie side of it. The one thing that has changed is the demand - there are a lot more people watching the stream, especially during the live shows. I've already fired off the email about the issues raised on this thread though and I'll get back to you as soon as we hear anything.
What would be helpful would be if those of you who have experienced issues could tell me which browsers you're using. I've checked with Chrome, Firefox and IE here and it's alright on all three. Would be good to give them the extra info though.
Agree 100%with Bugaloo, for information I use Chrome, & whereas I used to be able to have the web stream & play a couple of games alongside other applications running it has now reached the point wherby it isnt worth the effort.
I even sent 2 contributions to tuesday's show with Rich regarding the fact that the web stream was saying " No signal". Basically though the 3 main issues in watching the web stream are 1) Picture quality ie from part of the screen sliding sideways to a total distortion 2) Break up & distortion of sound 3) Complete freeze & restart required.
As I have Mr Bransons lot supply my TV I am unable to get sky poker via my TV, a little while back I did have some correspondence from Sky Claire regarding the issues & there was a possibility that Sky Poker may be available on a freeview channel, any update on the situation?
I would also say that during the Olympics I was able to watch on my Pc with almost TV quality so I am sure that the problem is not at this end with my systems performance. I have also watched the live stream from SPT's & the quality there is vastly superior.
Hopefully with your good self on the case we will all soon be able to watch 861 via the webstream as it was 12 months ago.
Thanks a lot for the feedback guys. We'll keep tabs on it - the one thing I would say is that it's not been widely reported to us here, but that's not to say it's at your end either. Your info does give us more to work with though.
Are there any times of day/days of the week it seems to be worse on?
I normally only watch the "live shows" on webstream but given your comments I have just watched a repeat for the last 30 mins. with very little picture distortion & no freezing. In fact there wouldn't be an issue if this was the standard all the time.
Is it therefore down to time of day, quantity of viewers or are the repeats transmitted in any way different?
I don't experience nearly the problems as some of the others here but the odd freezing is now happeneing more frequently and up until a few weeks age there never were any distortions. I'm using the Sky Poker TV link in the download, not sure which browser that defaults to, probably IE.
