Evenin!

Champs and Reds on the box from 7 with the poker clinic open and ready for business from 8.  If you have a hand from a TV table you'd be interested in seeing analysed just email the hand ID to skyopen@bskyb.com or post below and we'll get it on the show!  We're talking short stacking in cash games from 9, Top Of The Pots at 10 then we'll be covering the 12K Bounty Hunter as it happens from 11...

We'll also be playing 'guess the hands' testing YOUR hand reading skills with a top prize on offer! details on the show...

Also!  The World Series of Poker has opened nominations for the Poker Hall of Fame Class of 2012 so thought it'd be good to see who gets your vote for the Sky Poker Hall of Fame!? Criteria includes: playing consistently well and gaining the respect of peers.  Who on the site gets your vote?  Who deserves recognition and induction into the 2012 Sky Poker Hall of Fame?  Maybe we could add a few categories of our own, most improved? class Luckbox? class Donk? You get the idea...

And finally for now ever made a bet you lived to regret?
At the beginning of the Olympics, the radio station I work for promised to play Spandau Ballet's 'Gold' to match the amount of Golds achieved by Team GB, not thinking for a minute that would mean 29 times!  The 'Spandathon' lasted well over THREE HOURS and was pretty torturous!  So! ever made a bet you lived to regret? We all know our Carlo Citrone's got a few tales to tell on that score, let's hear yours!

GL on the tables, see you from 7

Sarah xx

Ever made a bet you lived to regret?

That one's easy! A few years ago now I worked as a poker writer and we used to get these free shindigs every now and then. I was offered the chance to go out to Valencia to cover a live tournament. The tournament organisers flew me out, put me up in a hotel and held a Welcome Party for players and guests. That included me. "Woot woot!", etc.

After a small selection of the free apperitifs, I proceeded to lose the largest bet of my life against the guy who organised the whole thing. Money going to money, etc etc.

The worst part of it was the question: In which year was Will Smith's 'Gettin' Jiggy With It' released?

Villain asked me if I wanted before or after January 1999. I got it wrong. I can now tell you without a shadow of a doubt that it was released in January 1998.

    I also dislike the song.

    hi Sarah and Reds

have a great show- looking foreward to it. i cant enter the comp tonight as ive never really been one for betting. i did have to suffer other people laying bets on me though when i played pool. it put a lot of pressure on my game so i can imagine how it must feel when playing poker with someone elses dosh. shudder shudder.  can we nominate folk like Ryan and Reds for the hall of fame awards and are we limited to one nomination per class?

    onwards and upwards :-)

Made a bet a few weeks ago that Rangers wouldn't drop a single point in Division 3,  They drew their first match  sigh;o(

The Sky Poker player I would nominate for the Hall of Fame was an individual who I was fortunate to meet face to face at SPT Leeds.  He was a gentleman and a fabulous contributor to Sky Poker and he was the type of person that made Sky Poker what it is.  He never played the high stakes games, but he was always there to help someone out on the forum.

Sadly he is no longer with us and he is sorely missed.

Ace Barry would be at the top of my list for the Sky Poker Hall of Fame

    Hi Sarah & Redmond,

Have a great show guys, in fact with "The Champs looks" & "Reds" poker brain it can't be anything else really.

As far as the Sky Poker hall of Fame goes my nomination as the 1st to be inducted, would have to be one of the oldest people still playing the game, albeit not that much on Sky Poker these days but has had more influence than any other individual on the site and other players development. Obyiously the age thing rules out Richard Orford so it has to be Tikay10.

The other nomination would be a player who started at the lowest levels on Sky & has progressed up through the ranks to the point now where he shares the Analyst's duties with Redmond & it has to be said they both do a brilliant job. So the nomination from the other end of the age spectrum would be Scotty 77.

    Take care guys

    Mike

Bet my mates that Id thrash them all at go-karting with my weight advantage and because I drive fast cars, do trackdays and race events etc. Ended up coming 5th out of a group of 12 and injured my back in the process...all in all ended up looking like a total idiot and still cant live it down.

Good evening Sarah and Redmond. Good to see you back Sarah.

Can you show this hand from the timed tourney, moments ago?

    Hand History #555724568 (19:13 23/08/2012
What does Redmond think? The raise size pre-flop is smallish because I know that the limper is unlikely to fold for any raise but I want to isolate them. Getting the blinds in doesn't make me happy until the flop hits. How does Redmond rate my raise on the flop? I feel as though it was fine to get value from a Jack, two-pair or pair with a draw... Not sure now whether I bet too much, even on this wettish board. Thank you.

(Might be better for the clinic, but I'll leave it up to you. You might think it's not worth showing. lol)

Hi guys have a good show.

Just wondering what Reds thinks about my play here.

Am i right to be doing this when i have already seen the guy under the gun limping from early position time and again and have got him noted as a weak player and with the chips already in the pot worth getting i felt like i only had to get past him to add 25% to my stack.

Obvi when i see what he called with i am happy and i know i just got unlucky in what was a virtual flip but is my play ok or did i not need to be doing it here and just check to see a flop for free knowing this is a £5 buyin timed tourney and there are alot of players who wont be thinking the same way as if it was the primo etc ?

    TYIA Daz.

    Hand id: 555734290  £600 tv timed 23/8/2012.

    Hi Guys

My worst ever bet was not for money (however i wish it was)  A drunken Poker satuday at a mates house ended up with the usual banter and someone decided before the big game to give a dare on who ever went out on the bubble.  Basicaly who ever went out on the bubble had to strip naked and then put on a set of one of my mates mums underwear and walk to the local shop to buy some vaseline........
And low and behold Yes you guessed correct I was the bubble! (im sure i was stitched up).
However I downed a few more whiskeys and slipped on my new get up and strolled to the shop for my vaseline.  One of the most embarasing moments of my life!
Oh did i mention it was snowing!!

Thanks for taking a look at my hand, Redmond. How does an aggro-monkey like me get a Jack to fold? lol

I went busto a few minutes later. Playing these timed tournaments is driving me crazy. I can't make a profit for love nor... erm... money. *sigh*

Oh well. It's been a good few weeks on the other tables.

Have a great show lady and gentleman. Hope to see more of you in future Sarah. So much better than those other presenters. :)

My nominations for Sky Poker Hall of fame would be Peg1 and Muse.
When I first started watching the show Muse was so flamboyant, and Peg1 so calculating.
Saturday nights Top of the Pots was the highlight of the week especially with Lolufold in the mix as well.
But Redmond would be in the Hall of Fame already for his amazing Vegas cash

    Hi Sarah and Redmond

Should I play ace rag or just fold like I do at the moment as I always used to get burnt when playing at the low levels many thanks

I'm not entering the competition... I'd just like to say that I hope they both have AK and chop the pot.

Otherwise it's a five hour long rub-down for whoever loses the hand. In which case:

    FOR SHAME, Sky Poker!!!

    lol
