Okay brief Summary:

December 2011 seriously spinal injury (2 x operations). Now having to leave work on manageable ill health pension. But ---- during the last 6 months have seriously got into Poker and now studying the fine art as if its an MSc course. Every hand analysed, books read, hands refined and practice and more practice. Aim - to learn to play to the best level that I can.

Cash Game - 9 and6 Player tables - Low Stakes for 1st six months and then move up.

Jst come to Sky Poker from another site (due to 3 months on my back watching SKY Poker for hours and hours)

So -- any Poker Buddies out there who want to exchange hands, chat and seriously take the game to the next level please Private Message me. !

Or any advice gratefully received.

I hope you can turn poker into an income source mate. Here's the advise I would give you based on my experience.

1 Identify the best avenue to make a profit from poker.  Cash is almost unanimously agreed to be the best avenue.

2 Gain extensive knowledge on cash poker, for a cheap as possible.Focus almost exclusively on cash. I would recommend a combination of watching training videos, watching the sky poker tv channel, reading poker forums. After a short period of time doing this, combine all of the above with playing a large number of hands at the very lowest stakes. And crucially analysing hands after you have played them.

3 If you don't make money for the first year or two don.t worry, this is normal. Only  move up stakes when you are turning a profit over a sample size of tens of thousands of hands. Take a long term view with poker the game is unlikely to go anyway.

4 Learn how to identify weak players and how to exploit their games. Learn how to play optimally against all sorts of player types. IF you want to gain an income from poker you will have to have a large edge over the players you choose to play against, to overcome the rake you pay to site to play.

5 Begin with full ring cash games then progress to 6 max then heads up.The smaller the number of opponent's the more complex the game is, however the bigger the edge will be for players who have an in depth knowledge of the game.

6 Play on Sky, along with other sites to give you a wide net to hunt the players you are looking to play against.

7 Only risk max 5% of your bankroll at any time.

8 If you become profitable at one form of cash poker. Start from scratch, trying to master another form of poker. Learn holdem first, as most poker is holdem. However then move onto omaha. Being adept at various disciplines, will give you a stronger footing in the game. If and as  you move up the stakes. it may become more difficult for you to find recreational players to play holdem against. However if you can beat both heads up holdem and omaha for instance, if will make it far easier for you to find people, against whom, it will be profitable to play against.

9 Don't multiable too many tables. As you want detailed information on your opponents, and to be making opponent specific decisions.

10 Use software like holdem manager to analyse your play, identify leaks and adjust your game accordingly.

I'm always looking for poker buddies to discuss hands with etc. I used to play 10NL semi-successfully but no decent sample size to speak of. Recently I've went back to basics at 4NL, sticking to tight BRM and intending to work my through the levels after getting in a good 40-50k hands per level, assuming I've increased my roll enough for the next level by that point.

Best way to talk poker I find is on FB with FB chat, so PM me your name if you wanna talk abuot anything.
