why is it that there are so many people on this site that feel its safe to call you names cos there sat at home on there pc its really quite sad that i had to post this but i think if the people that were doing this were banned for periods of time it would be a much more plesant site to play on and perhaps people might actually stay. there is to much of it going on and something should be done not just a chat ban STOP THEM PLAYING FULL STOP

How do you know that they are not being banned after you report them to Sky?

    Hello Alan.

    Interesting Post.

Firstly, responsibility is shared between the players & the site for these things. If you see chat abuse, you have the right - some might say duty - to report it to Customer Care.

If you don't, well it's likely to continue. Remember the old adage "all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing". So, looking the other way is fine & dandy, but it means it is likely to recur.

There is a procedure when someone is reported for Chat Abuse, & it goes something like this. (The Community system is not identical, but it is similar).

Firstly, the specific incident is checked, via the Chat Log. The software keeps a permanent record of all chat logs.

If the case is found "not proven", that is that.

If it looks like genuine abuse, THEN a further interrogation of the chat logs takes place, going back 3 months. This usually takes a day or two. If it is then found that there is repeated abuse, or it is deemed "serious", one of three things then happen.

a). The player is sent a warning, sometimes they receive a 'phone call from Head Office, it varies.

    b) The player receives a temporary Chat Ban, not always for a specified duration. "Indefinite" does not mean "permanent", incidentally.

    c) If the abuse, over a period of time, is found to be repeated, & serious, the player is then either permanently chat-banned, & in some cases, banned from using the site.

I hope that helps explain the system, or at least my understanding of it.

Please also note that Mods cannot chat-ban anyone for abuse on the Tables - that can only be done by Sky Poker Management in Leeds. The same applies on the Community - Mods do not have "banning powers", though they can temporarily "block & report" when appropriate.
