Folding On Reputation - £3.30 Mini-Open

The opponent UTG is a pretty well-known player and has a winning record across thousands of low/mid-stake MTT's. When he opens for 3x out of his 12BB stack I'm not exactly filled with a warm glowing feeling about my hand. I made the fold and I'm reasonably happy with it. I'm just wondering what others make of it.

I've not seen too much of him at the table and never played with him before. He became short by losing a pretty standard flip a little earlier. Am I wrong to be thinking that his range is massively weighted here towards big pairs, hoping that the weaker players won't realise and will pay him off?

    Never heard of the guy.

    meh. I probs raise because I'm a big fat MTTFISH and 99 is my fave hand. But I kinda like the fold. His range of opening 3x utg w/ 12bb is surely narrowed to JJ+ AQs+, perhaps that's a generous range and even vs that you only have around 25% equity so yh fold if your reads are kwl.

    The bloke does not have enough chips to set mine....

    Regarding the hand, i would be setting him all in. Still have 4k in chips if he turns over a big pair.

    Are you having a laugh lol. The villian has 12xBB and has already put 25% of them in pre. How can we ever set-mine v him?

    oh, I see. I sometimes see ppl on sky opening monsters with v.small stacks when there are tons of fish that'll defend with 6Qo. but yh ofc...
