I never really know how much to 3bet in these multiway pots preflop. I either seem to get everyone to fold or everyone calls. What do you think my betsize should be here?

I had a very similar spot to this last night and having talked through it with someone, I think you need to 3bet to about £7. It might sound a bit much but any less and you're giving great odds for people to call and once one does, they all do.

There's 13bb's in the middle and I don't want this pot multi way. So I make it £9/£10 and if they all fold you've made a handsome profit uncontested. But if you want to build a pot then £5/6 and be ready for a 4 way pot.

Yeah I think if you go to 4.50, then the first guy has to call £3 into a pot of nearly £10, so he's calling wide, then the next guy has to call £3 into £13, and so on, so by the end, the last guy is calling ATC and you're going 4way. Granted you're going 4way with the nuts pre, and you might win more long term, but just lost alot more often... not sure.

I said £6 before reading the thread.

having taken into account the other comments I would still say £6 if willing to risk a multi-way pot (my choice) or £9-10 if wanting to isolate the hand holding AK/KK/QQ or taking it down if they are not there.

the only way I could bet as low as £4.50 would be if no-one had called the raise, and I was in position.

    interested, JJ, on your rationale.

Ummmm, I don't know really it's just what I'd do coz it's what I've done in the past......

Just normally go 11xbb as a 3bet, plus abit more if it's multi away and I'm out of position so maybe around 4.80/5 total in game.

    Live n learn!

Thanks for the replies guys. I completely forgot I posted this until I just had a similar hand. In the hand above I think I made it £7.20 off the top of my head and they all folded. Looks like I wasn't far off the mark. Much prefer £7 and they all fold rather than £5 and get 3 callers.

Because in a 4 way pot with AA you lose more than you win...
