I did not press any buttons. Apart from the 6 and the 9 ones on the top row.
Did I do something wrong?
And as for how they play, I actually think people should play more suited connectors/small pairs early doors, try bink a flop then go SUPER aggro. JC did that well - played snug and then hit the BAM button.
Ok, played the first one so here's what I thought:
1) On first sight in the lobby, the structure looked a little bit 'out there' to me, unlike anything I'd seen before. For that reason my initial reaction was that they were unlikely to prove popular. Sit and Go's that aren't HU or DYMs don't seem to do too well around here for some reason, anyway. That was just my initial reaction, though, and I had to give them a try before dismissing them (only fair, eh?)
2) Having played it, I thought it was tremendous fun. I really think there is something there with this one. It will need lots of people to try them, then support them, for them to stay (as with anything, I guess). I think, possibly, a decent promo relating specifically to these, might be beneficial (or whichever of the new Sit and Go's currently in the lobby is 'run with', if any).
3) Relating to the last point above, there are lots of new formats in the Sit and Go lobby right now. I kind of hope that this is like a trial period and that one or two will be taken on and run with for a while, depending on the trials. I think trying to keep all of these new formats would saturate the Sit and Go lobby too much. If these are short-term trials I think it's important that people try them out and provide feedback where they can.
4) I wondered while playing if the format (blind structures) could be applied to DYMs (because DYMs are far more popular than standard pay out Sit and Go's on Sky). I kind of thought that it wouldn't alter DYM strategy too much and that this version was better.
5) A specific one, as they are brand new I suspect some tweaking with the blind structure may be required before they become a finalised product (if they do). Personally, with 1 game's experience (lol), I'd recommend just scrapping the 30/60 level altogether and bring the other levels forward so that the 1 min blinds start when the blinds are 150/300. I think 5000 starting stack is good.
6) The payout was 75/25. I think the 65/25 mentioned above (that they were meant to be?) would be a lot better. £2.70 for 2nd after paying £2.00 to buy-in would put off a lot of players I think.
Overall, I think they are great to be honest and everyone in that game seemed to be having fun. I hope this one sticks, I think it could but it will just need work and support, that's all.
EDIT: +1 to what Trev said. I think people could find an edge in these which adds to my belief that they could prove successful because they certainly look to provide the 'fun' element for recreational players.
Re: the payouts, they were meant to be 65/35 but the first went as 75/25 in the first - apologies to TINTIN for the confusion on my part. They will stay as 65/35 in future.
Re: the blind levels, I think we'll try keep 30/60 in for now but can definitely review later. The thinking here is to let the 5k stacks play for as much time as possible before the time starts kicking in. Taking the 30/60 out might look natural but think might cause a pinch a little too soon. Again, totally up for review though so could be done if people felt the same way.
We're going to trial this and a couple of other formats for a while and as you say run with the most popular ones. Up to you guys to decide really!
from the ones i played all players were there till the 1 min blinds kicked in. i agree with JC that the 30/60 level isnt needed but cetrainly more needs to be played.
hope these go well as there is certainly a fun factor to them for small stakes
Re: the 30/60 level, I think we're going to let them run with it in for the weekend and take another look on Monday to see if people still want it taking out. That way some of the more recreational players can have a go on them.
Feel free to spread the word about them though if you like them - the more people play them, the more likely they'll stick around.
Just played one and it played fine for 3 levels I can't comment on how it goes after that, as I called off my 5k with KK vs TinTin's AA I presume rake will be 10% and not 11.11111111111111111111111% if and when these are rolled out? Posted by annie_duke
It will most likely stay as is, Annie. Although I know that's not you really
In Response to Re: 5-4-3-2-1 - Opinions please! (New SNG Format) : This was from punt and dennis wasnt it??? Classic comedy. milky milky.................. Posted by donkeyplop
OK folks, we're going to try this as an MTT format this afternoon! Same format, same chips, more players!
The tourney takes place at 3.15pm and we've made it a £100 GTD £5.50 buy-in jobbie. If we hit the guarantee we'll chuck in a seat to tonight's Bankbuster to anyone who plays in the tourney and posts on this thread before 3.30pm.
