do you understand how many weeks and days are in 2.5 months? vegas is a horrible horrible place, not if you're there with money to burn and a stag doo to celebrate. But when you're there day in day out, grinding day in day out, it's not 'fun' 'enjoyable' or w/e it's a horrible mind numbing enjoyment sucking will to live gobbling grind. go live somewhere nice with nice people and without the disgusting subverted methods of taking the poor and rich mans money. I was going to say 'I think' but I actually KNOW from experience that hotel rooms are not ok for this long. I spent 1 month in a rio suite last year, however helpful it was for the wsop games it was still so frustrating and similar and got on my nerves easily before the first week was over. eating the same ridiculously sized portions of food is just beyond tiring and horrible. Imo you would benefit 1 million percent from spending a chunk of your expected outlay on accommodation on a car, so that your accommodation can be off strip. so that a) you get something better b) you aren't in a hotel c) you aren't on the strip all day d) you have options in such a long timeframe to take trips to LA down I15 south, or to go visit hoover dam, or go to lake mead for the day etc. commuting for 20 minutes through 400 lane roads is really easy and adds to the experience. also fwiw 2/5 is softer than 1/3, the 1/3 rio games often have shallower caps too. some games have shallow 2/5 others like the wynn that cater for bigger players have 300bb type buyins. Yes i can understand what your saying Vegas could be a horrible place if things arnt going well but i love the place and i used to live in America when i worked there and figured this is a good opportunity for me so i can go back there and live for a few months.
Yea called a few of the casinos in Las Vegas this evening and some of them told me i could stay for 28 nights then have to check out for 2 days before i could come back at other casinos they told me i could stay a max of 12 nights before checking out and back in 2 days later due to Nevada law.
Yes i would definately like a car during my trip maybe for 2 days each week to get away from Poker and i could go to LA as i have a friend who lives there.
With regards to the games i played both 1/3 and 2/5 in Vegas last summer and i found them both extremely soft. I have played in casinos in florida, vegas and la when i lived in america for a year and they all love to limp call at all levels including 2/5.
ya, it's not very intuiative. but the higher you go the worse the bad players get and the more money they have!
some of the people I played 5/10 with in the summer were absolutely appalling and all waiting angry that the 10/25 game wasn't running. it's mind blowing.
100% you shouldn't stay in a hotel. hotel life is not fun.
maybe have 2 months in an apartment and if things go well get a nice hotel for a week or something to take a break.
having a car just to go between hotels (all of which have ridic huge carparks) is so helpful. cabs add up and you can get really good deals for longer rentals. you can just some utterly budget car it doesn't matter as long as it has aircon. beware that american cars are terrible, scratch that, beyond terrible.
Yeh obv get a house if your going with a group of pals+car... makes life soo much easier.
That said, if your going on Jack Jones then nothing wrong with degening it in hotels on cheap player rates imo, and moving from hotel to hotel w/o a plan and just see what works for you. Gotta be ridic disciplined to do this imo... food costs, night life, desert, dry cleaning, booze, weak diet and no decent private living space could murder your winnarate. (You need a good social circle to live out of hotel in my experience & lots of buffets imo!! ). I personally would prefer to live out of a house, but it would get pretty boring if theres not a group of ya's going.
Also seperate living costs and poker roll - obv. With winnings superseeding living costs to make the journey worth it.. othewise just print monies on sky poker... at least you can sit on a decent sofa that way!!!
And stay away from the pits... Keep a blog somwhere if you do go, i would read.

Yes at the minute il be going over myself but if anyone else is looking to come with me nearer the time then that would be even better. Ive had the idea in my head of doing this since last summer when i went on holiday to Vegas and now i have a good roll to do it. Food and drink will be cheap as i eat way too many mcdonalds's when im abroad and the drinks are free in the casino anyway.
A house would be good if it was more than myself going but at the moment it will just be myself. I called a number of casinos and hotels last night via skype and from may 29th-July 16th it worked out at $3000 at the riviera and around $3500 at the travellodge on the strip. The travellodge on the strip is in a great location whereas the riviera is a bit out of the way as i stayed in the riviera 2 years ago.
Yes obviously im hoping that my winnings exceed all my expenses and i feel i should be able to do that but im prepared to lose aswell as i just couldnt book a trip for that long if i wasnt prepared for when things went wrong that would be crazy! My main reason for going however is not im going to go to Vegas to make 10s of thousands of dollars the reason i am going is for the experience of the venture.
Ive made the decision that im 100% definately going just need to work out all the details and il probly be looking to get the whole thing booked come early january.
Edit! FLight could be booked at some pont today! £583 from Dublin to New York stay there with my mate for 4 days then to Las Vegas on June 1st then returning to Dublin on July 16th was expecting the flights to be about a grand to might just have to go ahead and book today.

Nice 1 would be great if you were there for a few poker buddies and do some things away from the tables. Im just to keen couldnt get the idea out of my head so i did it and i got a really good deal with my all my flights- Dublin to Orlando- Orlando to New York- then New York to Vegas and Vegas back to Dublin for £652. Payed an extra £54 so i can change my flight while im over there to a later date back home if things happen to go well.

Went ahead and booked my hotel today in the Imperial palace now known as the Quad Resort as from a couple of months ago i think. Would have went for a villa if there was more than myself going but i stayed here last summer and was good and is in a great location on the strip.
