Sunday night live with Sarah Champion and Carlo Citrone *****official show thread*****

Happy weekend!  It's Champion and Citrone lined up for Sunday night's live show and if you're taking part in the Primo we'd love to hear from you as we'd like to feature your game in 'analyse my play' *if you'd like us to!* 

 

We're also giving away free entry into Tuesdays 6K open worth 33 pounds for our favourite contribution to the show so here's a couple of topics to get us started:

 

First up I found this question online and am interested to hear your take on it ... It's on the old luck versus skill debate!

 

'I am debating this with my husband. He says that there is 20 percent luck to 80 percent skill... I say it is closer to 40 percent luck to 60 percent skill. What do you all think?'
...and for arguments sake let's say in a typical Sky Poker tournament...


Secondly, loved the story in the week of the guy that earns 60K a year on pub quiz machines!  Did you read about him?  http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4639352/60k-quiz-king.html


He's memorised all 500 Dickens characters, the number of sets in every wimbledon game and the population of African cities!  So what's your top trivia subject?  (I once named every Christmas number one of the past 20 years in a pub quiz!  comes from working on a radio station for over a decades worth of christmases!)  
If you were on Mastermind what would your specialist subject be!?

    I once read one of the Sky regs (I think it was Lol_Raise) say something which summed up the luck/skill arguement very well. In the short term it's probably something along the lines of 80% luck, 20% skill, in the longterm it's more like 99% skill, 1% luck.

    My specialist subject would probably be films starring Arnold Schwarzenneger.

    When i win a pot it is obviously 100% skill, however when i lose a pot, it is because some lucky ******* has binked a miracle ******* flop/turn/river(delete as appropriate).

    Oh good call on Oasis and the mighty roses!  D'you know there's a warning you should 'never meet your heroes' but I've had the pleasure of chatting with Ian Brown and both Gallagher brothers and they were all an absolute joy!  (Here's Noel if you're interested! http://www.absoluteradio.co.uk/player/Noel-Gallagher/9768/Interview.html at Isle of Wight Festival back in the summer)

    Ha!  Well I do tend to keep the hours of a poker player but yes was out with a few friends last night to see Squeeze, belated birthday present for a friend who's a fan! The link is Noel chatting about his solo career but also the Euros, England were playing that day and he had high hopes at the time! Wrongly of course as it turned out...

    My mastermind subject would be WWE wrestlemania. I have them all on DVD and I have been to the last two. It would also give me an excuse to watch them all again. Not that I need one!  I think Carlo's subject should be the history of fake tan, Tikay's should be ducks of Great Britian and their habitat (he would probably only get one question as the answer would just go on and on and on). Orford's has got to be spt Leeds side event winners and Greghogg can do the menu at McDonalds!

    Long term - 10% luck

    Mastermind subjects - I once did a charity Mastermind & did the "STD dialling codes of Yorkshire" on the basis there were limited questions and I could easily memorise all the answers. Sad but true. Still know them (even sadder) from Ripon to Rotherham & from Bridlington to Barnsley.

    I would recommend subjects where there are limited possible questions such as:

    1) The hit singles of Men Without Hats

    2) The International goals of Emile Heskey

    3) The poker wins of Richard Orford (Answer "Leeds side event" to every question)

    4) The successful Bushtucker Trials of Helen Flanagan

    5) Scottish Salads

    6) The bad beats of Julian Thew

    Seriously, I would probably go for the TV series "Fawlty Towers" There are only 12 episodes & I pretty much know them mord for word.

    No excuses it was a shocking fold with the QQ. I had my reasons, but they were the wrong ones.

    Off topic,Just wondering if any comps or anything are on at the moment for hitting a Royal Flush?
    I just hit one in a DYM, Hand ID: 587946876

    On topic, this was 100% luck as I was all in pre flop with pocket Queens!

    Hi, Have a good show. I think poker is 80% skill, 20% luck, theres only so much you can do if your not lucky enough to get the cards.

    Mastermind .... No idea. lol

    I have stuck notes on my monitor before to remind myself to stick to my BRM. Didnt work.

    Hi GUys,
    Enjoying the show.

    I think poker is 70% skill, 17% luck & the other 13% is usually Chardonnay! Hic!

    I think over the course of 1 or 2 tournaments luck is part of poker. However the best players in the world wouldn't be the best players in the world if they didn't have skill. I think over the lifetime of a poker player it ultimatly becomes 100% skill.

    I think my specialist subject on mastermind would be the history of Liverpool F.C as thats all we have now anyways.
