Hi there, I have a question regarding the size a call needs to be when calling an all in bet if there are other people still in play as well.
To explain - player 1 decides to go all in with (say) 125 chips and 2 other players still left in (with say 500 chips each), with a big blind of 100. (Minimum bet is 100 with raises in multiples therein). Player 2 wants to call the bet, but obviously doesn't know what player 3 will be doing. How much does player 2 need to call? 125? Or is the all in bet actually a bet "technically" worth 200 (double the minimum) thereby forcing player 2 to "call" 200 to make player 3 at least call 200 as well (assuming they don't fold)?
Clearly the size of the bet is going to affect player 2's decision - calling a bet only 25% above the minimum can be rather different to calling a bet twice the size of the minimum.
If the answer is to "call" 200 and player 2 thus folds, wouldn't this disadvantage player 2 as player 3 now only needs to call the 125 all in bet placed by player 1?
Thanks for any replies.
