Yes 1st 1 ever geldy.  I was thinking his range was polarised geldy to having air or having it after he raised me on the flop and i thought he had to barrell the river put him on a better hand than he had and was going for the check raise.

Nice one fella, do you think oppo would have called a value bet on the river?

    Ps, names out?

Very nice hand. I actually folded a Royal once, deliberately! Can you guess why?

Nope, Holdem, cash game $0.5/$1 I was BB (with some trash hand), 1 caller, SB calls, I check, so three in pot, board came down A K Q all clubs, all checked, turn was 10c, all checked, river was obviously the Jc. First guy then goes all in for $100+ and we both fold as, at the time, the rake was more than the amount we would have won. Wierd eh! We chatted about it afterwards and decided that his all in was inspired!

Not sure if he would or not to be honest the reason i checked the river was because i put him on a much stronger hand and thought he would bet the river then we could get all the money in.

If i had of known his hand as weak as just 1 pair then i would have value bet however i put him on a much stronger hand and felt best way to get all the chips in was with a check raise.

but if he was much stronger would he not regard your bet as a stopper bet and come over the top anyway?

PS I used to do the same as you, but i been talked into regarding the value bet the better play, do feel free to argue otherwise
