Is anyone else as disappointed as me with the number of bad beats on the river on this site. I cannot be the only one. And this is definitey not sour grapes

you're not the only one, my husband and a lot of our friends have stopped playing on here for that very reason and i have had enough of it too. i want to get 6 people together and all just call and check every hand and film it to prove out our suspsions that most hands on here are actually won on the river. i suspect that the software does not actually give you random cards but each hand is pre determind....imagine all the cards dealt out..hole cards and community cards.now hide the community cards..thats all this software does .....you may think that you are randomly drawing from a full deck but really only 17 cards in play.....this gives the software owner ie: sky poker a nice big rake in cash games because everyone has worked out that most hands on here are won on the river.......now before all you peaple chip in THERE IS NO RAKE IN TOURNAMENT GAMES this is true but do you really think they have 2 different types of software, 1 for cash games and 1 for tournaments??

I suppose you'll tell me that the software already knows how the hands will all play, who'll play an who'll bet what and when

    Hi
I have been playing on this site for 15months now, and i must have seen the same complaint every week, i am sure if you went back to the start of sky poker you would here the same thing,

now surly if it was the case that the hands or card were pre ordained and the river card was given to the big stack or the one who need to catch a card, then some thing would have been done, or investigated and the site would be no more, or no one would be playing.

all i can say is except this happens, its not nice but it does happen, just grit your teeth and start again it will level itself out.

Me - Just been beaten AGAIN on the river. Lost count of the number of times. I know this can happen but just happens far far too often on this site. I play live poker every Sunday and never get the number of beats on the river that you get on this site. There! Had my whinge I really must try another site.

SKY along with all other sites, are there to make money, it is not in anyones interest to say who wins or loses.
however, they need to generate profit, so you give everyone 2 random cards, but they influence the flop to
generate play. say the flop is K 4 2, not great for anyone at first glance, BUT if you then make it  Kd 4c 2c
you then have the possibility of top pair, straight draw, and flush draw.
this would at least encourage a bet with 2 callers, that way no matter what the next cards are, the RAKE  has been increased. the turn and the river can then be random again,SO without saying who wins or loses, the site has increased the rake and maximised their profit.
ITS THE GENERATION OF PLAY the site can influence, NOT THE OUTCOME.
BAD BEATS will always happen, but its not rigged in the way people think, just that people are encouraged to bet/call/ raise after the flop.
AA/KK pre are dealt as 2 random cards, its still the flop that dictates whether there is any betting/caling.
so the site is not rigged , just the next time you see the flop, the site is influencing your decision,on
    whether to play or not.

Considering the river makes up 20% of the community cards, you'd expect it to have a deciding factor on who wins a decent amount of the time.

P.S. not all hands go to the river. Getting people to check down proves nothing because the whole point of poker is that people can catch up but you force them to pay a price to see the river which doesn't warrant the odds they're getting.

LMAO - I too have played most other poker sites and sky is no different to any other out there.

A big factor why there are so many bad beat on the river is because (especially at Sky Poker) the standard of play at the micros is really bad. This next point is really important :-

When nobody will fold a draw and chase it to the river it makes sense that variance will be higher, MUCH HIGHER.

    One more thing :-

For a school maths project the 32 people in my class had to flip a coin 10,000 times each and combine the results, thats 320,000 flips, Guess what the biggest stretch of either heads or tails was? 41 times, tails came in a row.

So give up moaning and make an effort to improve, I guarantee you that you're not capable yet, of fully comprehending the full effects of variance.

Know how u feel. I think all poker site's software are designed for tricky turn and river cards, which in turn will promote more raises, action and bigger pots. Surely a plus for the site's rake. So I do much prefer a more realistic run of cards across the board in live tourneys. However I must point out there's much more annoying sites out there which are far worse than sky for seeing greater, unbelievable and unrealistic turn of cards across the board.

So I salute Sky Poker, cry when i'm outdrawn and feel like I've won the lottery when I hit that %5 gin card. HEY.........................IT'S POKER  ^_^

This is the important point, the more people in the hand seeing the river, the much less powerful your holding. If you've been watching the sky poker cash game you'll note that when the flop goes multiway it is very rare to see a dominating hand when you look at the probability/win percentages shown. As Lambert says the game is all about getting your cash in when you're ahead, knocking out the smaller probability hits and increasing your own chances.

I challenge you all to keep a diary of your river wins and losses with the hands in play, let the sample grow over time and let's have the debate again. The psychology is that you'll remember far more bad beats than river cards that mean you hold.

PS - I cracked aces last night in a tournament aipf with KK. QQ was also in play. Hit K on, yes you guessed it, the river! Was loving the rigging!

Not the old sample one million hands before you are allowed to come to some sort of conclusion. Stop concentrating just on the hands you play and watch the hands that you are not in and you will see the amount of action hands does not make sense. FH over FH, runner runner flush, triple pairs as hole cards followed by two outa the three hitting on the flop. Quads every single night and that's just on the table can see. No one is at any advantage as it does not matter who actually wins. The question is has it gone too far now where the skill and experience counts for very little. As people say call the big chip stack with KK against 5,2 off and 3 outa 5 times you will lose. They are not the odds you are more than a sixty percent favourite. Yep the big stack is getting the price perhaps but he also knows he still has a better than average chance of taking the hand down. The question is does it have to be like this? it wasn't six years ago. Yet again I believe no one has any advantage over anyone else because if you are the big chip stack then you will prolly smash KK with 5,2 off. The fact is that with ak against 68 it is nearly a coin flip that you will hit AK or he will hit a straight and that is not the odds. A Years ago I said take this into account when playing and people said I was mad. Personally I feel you are mad if you think any poker site is random. They just aren't. But they are fun and entertaining and you can still win.
