Thursday's live show - with James & tikay (***OFFICIAL THREAD***)

edited January 2013 in Poker Chat
The fun begins at 7pm on channel 861, and at 10pm on Sky Sports 4.

The agenda?

7pm - live coverage of a £600 TV Timed Tournament (register HERE)
8pm - The Poker Clinic (please send in your Hand IDs)
9pm - live coverage of the £30k Super Roller Semi (register HERE)
10pm - Top of the Pots
11pm - live coverage of the £15k Sky Sports Bounty Hunter (register HERE)

Plus, a bit of role reversal: I'll be answering questions about planes, trains and motorways, while tikay will be fielding queries about films and American Football. (I'm acutely aware that Mr Kendall knows a lot more about my specialist subjects than I know about his!)

And, please tell us about your...

FAVOURITE MOBILE/COMPUTER GAMES

I'm currently hooked on Open Face Chinese Poker. I don't have Mercier-like skillz, and I don't play at Mercier-like stakes, but, since downloading the app, I've been on my iPad 24/7.

So, what occupies your time (apart from Sky Poker's cash games and tournaments)? Words with Friends? Angry Birds? The one with the planes coming into land at the airport? Any tales of unhealthy obsession? ;)

Once again, I'll be awarding prizes for outstanding contributions (received before 9.45pm). I have FOUR Mini Primo seats to give away.

Never been into computer games apart from PGA Golf on the old Saga megadrive when i lived in Bpool going back at least 15 years
We would come home from the aracdes with pocket fulls of pound coins and play the 4 players version for a pound a hole. If 2 ppl split it - the other 2 would have to add a pound to the pot and so the pot would build each hole until sombody won. We,d play all night long until the arcades opend again and then back to my m8,s for my golf . Occasionly we,d get some sleep

Never played any games since then until the last year or 2 when my m8 introduced me to pro-evo soccer on the xbox and now Fifa 13. Its amazing how far games have come in the last 20 years. Imagine the next 20

    Have a good show guys

    Ps - sent u a PM Tikay

    Paul

Think i might give the 7pm Timed touney a try for the first time. Only played the 15 and 30 minute ones so far

Just remembered...I have a confession to make, related to my 12-hour sessions playing GTA: Vice City!

I regularly get pins and needles in my feet when playing Angry birds/words with friends/latest update of game apps. This is because I start playing when I'm going for number twos and end up getting distracted by the apps on my phone.

Since installing Angry Birds on my iPhone, I’ve miraculously had no need to interact with my family whatsoever. I wonder if they still live with me?

By the way, does anyone have a manual that would help me to translate the weird hieroglyphic symbols on the washing machine dial? I’ve never used it before, and both my bed-sheets and towels have become crispy to the extent that they can longer be bent or folded. I’m no expert, but I doubt this is a good sign.

I would like to ask James.
IS THE FLYING SCOTSMAN, A PLANE, A TRAIN, OR A BLOKE FROM GLASGOW WHO HAS BEEN ON BUCKFAST FOR TWO
    DAYS...

The only game i played was the ping pong game on a black and white tv.
Played it till the small hours as the tv went off about 12pm. The dot on the tv took about 10 mins to disappear
and could get mixed up with the dot that went from side to side all exciting stuf. TK will know all about this...

My cousin got me hooked on the Sega Megadrive when I was 3.  It was mostly Sonic the Hedgehog and Street Fighter.  I've tried revisiting these and can't believe how difficult they are.  Mad respect to my 3 year old self.

Tikay  do you think that the player injury report should be taken out of NFL.

Do you feel, as others do, that this is just a tool used be the gambling fraternity, or do you feel it serves any real purpose in terms of the fans enjoyment of the game

Looking forward to your response ;o)

Since I discovered Championship Manager back in 2001 my life completely changed.

I have been playing it since then and I have spent countless hours on it. I have broken a number of mouses and keyboards but I have gained some amazing moments such as winning the Champions League with a rubbish Greek team wich played in the 2nd Division and also winning the Greek league with my favourite time Panionios which is never going to happen in real life.

Most CM staff were hired by Sports Interactive couple of years ago and the company created and launched the Football Manager game, which is now the best seller of the genre.

It's one of the most addictive games out there. Watch out if you start playing it now. You can get easily hooked and then your social life is gone.

One more game please and I am off.

    ******* brag alert ********

    Missile Command

Used to take home a half bottle of whisky every week for a month for having the high score down the local pub.
They stopped the promotion once everyone realised they couldn't beat me.
But they did ok out of me before that. I would get the top three scores and write my name diagonally.

    _  E  _
    _  _  L

& everyone would play to try to mess up my arrogant artistry (and fail, of course)

    Looking forward to the show.

Tikay - If the 49ers win the Super Bowl where do you see Alex Smith next season? Still in SanFran? How about a trade to somewhere like Arizona?

James - Which motorway contains the highest point on the UK motorway network? And why is there a degree of notoriety attached to that point?

As for the game addiction? Has to be Street Fighter 2, in a sweetshop, on an arcade machine, on my way to school. As in poker, as in life...late registration, anyone?

I used to play cm 01/02 for hours and hours i didn't actually ever buy another football game as a website updates it to current day although have stopped last couple of years as poker has overtaken it as being my minor addiction, in a way i think the hours i used to spend on cm 01/02 set me up well for grinding poker, hours spent scouring the transfer market for players i could afford with dagenham and redbridge only to finish with a mediocre league position and no cup run, cant imagine any game with ever come close to that again. Seen my brother playing this years fm and have been tempted but i dont think it'll ever be as magical as playing cm 01/02 when i was younger, Kennedy bakircioglu will forever be imprinted in my mind as a wonder player despite his mediocre real life career.

    James and Tikay

Fabulous idea for Trading Places, with you two answering questions on each others subjects and Vice Versa. I think this is really Something Special and ts not even a Freaky Friday!

Anyway question for Tikay, and I'll put it into your age range, name 3 David Lean films. Sure james can tell u whether u get the right!

Question for James, what was the 1st US locomotive (built 1st in 1830). Teeks will know it, i think he was an early conductor on one!

Addictive computer games, from my youth, Mr Do ! From today, as said by others, football Manager!

Hello James & Tikay. Looking forward to a good show tonight. I've recently started playing alot more of the cash side of the game with fairly good results, but i do go through spells, some where i'll make a decent profit in a relative short space of time & then other's where i play for hours & only break even or make a loss. For example i'll use a couple of hands from today, AK Suited & AQ suited respectively,i Raised up 3x pre with 2 callers, totally miss the flop, put a three bet in & then get re-raised & subsuquently fold the hand. That has probably been the story of my afternoon ( with a probable few mistakes thrown in for good measure ). I did come out of this session with a slight profit, but very little when you bear in mind the hours i put in. Are these spells a normal thing when playing cash or am i doing sumthing wrong?

One of my favourite computer games has to Sensible soccer on the amiga from back in the late 80's early 90's. I use to play this game all the time with my best friend thinking it was the best game ever!!

Many thanks for taking time to read my post. Stuart

What does Tikay think of Skyfall?  What does he think of the scene at Temple station?  Did he notice that the train was a Northen line train when Temple station is on the central and district lines?  What would Tikay do to film makers who make such obvious mistakes?

When travelling on the M1, does James think the food is better in the Donnington Park services or the Watford Gap services?  What does he think about the new suspension bridge in Vladivostock?  It is the longest cable stayed suspension bridge in the world just incase you need any reminding.

I used to play the final fantasy games all night long.  I could get totally lost in them for hours and hours on end.  Many days I have been playing until 4 or 5 am and not noticed what the time is.  I can agree with James about GTA Vice city too.  Great game and I could spend hours just driving around listening to the different radio stations on it.  DJ Lazlow rules!

Run well all and have fun

After seeing my hand earlier when i hit the set of 5,s , i got a cpl of bad beats and went down to 3k but got it back again and ended up with 7900 (£19 i think)

Tikay reminded me of playing chess. I used to play up to the age of 13 and was captain of the school team and got a few trophys. Its a great game and although i don,t play anymore i beleive it has helped my poker game as you have to think at least 2 or 3 moves ahead which helps in poker as well.

Last point - Omaha - Looking forward to JockBMW,s challenge. Only really played it in the last few months and despite far from being an expertt on it i,ve won a cpl of low stakes MTT,s and would love to play more when available on Sky

    Enjoying the show btw
