i was on the final table with AA so i used this as the chance to gain lots of chips from a calling but they both folded making me wonder if this is the time slow play could have been better.

And you want them to call right, so make it smaller, depending on how the table has been playing I'd probably lift it to 2000... especially on the button they may then 3-bet thinking you are just stealing (jackpot) or you might get a caller and take down some more value post-flop. If you happen to get outdrawn with some weird hand that sees you go bust, meh, you got 3rd in a tournament, still in profit so happy days.
If it was more like 10-15 bb then I probably err more to a shove, as a small raise looks like it wants to get called.
Congrats on the good run in the tourny though.
Which hands do we think might call this shove?
What makes the shove a better value play than a standard raise?
Are you lucky777 or petetheplaya?
seriously though... dreadful shove. I standard raise my entire range no more than 3x max. i will min raise more than 90% of the time tho.
