Don't Give Up

I've been running terribly recently. At least in my head anyway, which has led to me getting impatient and playing pretty terribly too. I couldn't see where the next cash was coming from, let alone the next win, and then out of the blue this happened. Only a £2.20 b/h but I managed to get 4-handed with a decent chip lead and had the hand from heaven, and about 4 hands later the icing on the cake:

    Oh, and about 20 minutes later I finished 2nd in the 2345 £5 b/h for another £47.50. Not massive amounts granted, but a step in the right direction, and a lesson to stay patient cos you never know what's round the corner... :)B)

    Thanks @Tikay10, made a change going to bed & not feeling pi$$ed off and replaying hands over & over in my head!

    Spoke too soon with that post, have run worse than I ever have for the past 4 days, and that's saying something, took all my willpower not to smash the f**k out of my laptop. Need a break and am on holiday for the next 5 days, thankfully in a place with no wi-fi, so poker can take a back seat and I can (try to) forget all about it 'til next weekend. Maybe I'll come back refreshed and raring to go but I'm not counting on it. Good luck all, run well, Toff.

    A 2nd in the mini last Sunday then a win in the mega-stack tonight, a few iffy results in between but still nearly £500 up for the week, knew it would turn around eventually. :) Cheers to @MynaFrett , as well as @Duesenberg & @waller02, for the rail, although admittedly they were railing myna 'til he got knocked out in 5th! Bed, golfing at 755 tomorrow........

    Well done Toffeeandy, bad runs are a part of the game, ive been through some heavy ones my self. Learn and try new things but most importantly never let it bother you and play just to have fun. If you lose just say oh well. If you continue to lose just take a break. Some you win some you lose just dont get emotional about it and you will do just fine :)

    Strange, but brilliant, couple of days; wife gave birth to 2nd child on Hogmanay, 2 weeks ahead of schedule, my son arrived at 3 minutes to 9 last night. Thought we were heading for the new year baby at one point but little Oliver was having none of it; 7lb 11oz for those who are interested in that kind of thing.

    Spent most of today at the hospital with a very excited 4 year old daughter in tow but my wife isn't quite well enough to come home yet, tomorrow hopefully, so took her up the road this evening. After getting her to bed thought I'd take advantage of a last night to myself for a while and play a couple of tournaments; this hand just happened and I just laughed, usually this would annoy me but it's funny how other things going on in your life can give you a different perspective on things. Gonna play another couple tonight so maybe my luck will change, not sure how much of a chance I'll get to play over the next wee while for obvious reasons!

    Happy New Year to everyone on here, good luck at the tables and remember no matter how bad you sometimes run some things in life are more important.

    @Toffeeandy

    That's absolutely wonderful news, many congratulations to both you & Mrs Toffee.

    "Oliver" needs a middle name of course. "Carlo" perhaps?

    Enjoy, am really pleased for you.

    Thanks guys, appreciated. @Tikay10 I tried to have his middle names as "Carlo Duncan" but was overruled for "Martin John" after my wife's twin brother and my late father, who passed away 10 days before my 4-year old was born.

    Trying to squeeze in a couple of turbos just now while the wee one's sleeping in between feeds!!

    Carlo Duncan would have been epic.

    Don't be a stranger now you have increased duties at home, would be good to know how you manage poker now, & also to hear about life with young Oliver.

    I'll try @Tikay10 although initially at least my playing opportunities will be somewhat limited. Managed a couple of tournaments last night, and fluked my way to a 2nd in one of them, but the wee fella had a slightly restless night (1st night in his new home!) so I only managed about 3 hours sleep. About to have an early night tonight but hopefully still get some play in over the weekend.

    It used to be a case of getting my daughter to bed for 7-8pm then playing until the back of midnight so the drop in volume will be inevitable but hopefully not permanent.
