Who won what, Sunday 17th May; Expect the Unexpected.

Morning.

A pleasing night really, certainly better than I was expecting, with the £10,000 BH, Mega Stack, Sheriff, £3,000 Turbo & Mid Ex all improving w-o-w. Sunday Major was down 10% w-o-w, but at £25,000 that's still a number which is close to double what it would have been pre-boomlet.

I have no idea how Cash or SNG's are performing, but the featured MTT's held up better than I expected considering that football resumed at the weekend, in addition to French horse racing, both of which would have sent punters scurrying back to Sky Bet.

Plenty to be pleased about, and for me, that metaphorical glass remains half-full.

Expect the Unexpected? More on that later...

£3,000 BH @ 7pm £3,850

£10,000 BH @ 7.30pm £14,790

£20,000 Sunday Major £25,000

£4,000 Mini Major £4,900

£2,000 Mega Stack £2,740

£3,000 Sheriff £4,200

£3,000 Turbo BH £3,840

gazzaluf05 has been knocking on the door all month, with 6 cashes in featured MTT's already in May - a 2nd, 2 x 3rds, 1 x 4th & 2 x 6th. And now the win, which must have felt really good, or as Patrick Leonard might have said, very fun.

3rd was anjie1970, after running 6th in Quickdraw the previous night. A long time ago - 10 years or more - anjie was one of the most successful & prolific players here. Gives me a warm glow to see that Alias cashing regularly again.

5th was gadgerno1, who was 7th in the the Sunday Major for a comma 2 weeks ago, & miniman sneaked onto the FT in 6th.

The winner, Elmo69 has one of over 20 "Elmo" prefixes on Sky Poker, which puzzled me somewhat, so I googled "Elmo". It seems that it's a character in the Muppets, but as I don't watch Children's TV I can't assist further. Sky Sam would probably know, he watches all the Kids TV stuff. Says it's for Max's benefit. Yes yes, course.

Runner-up WOMBAT2011 was enjoying his best ever result here, 10 years since his debut. Nice one WOMBAT.

    £20,000 Sunday Major (£25,000)

    Expect the Unexpected

That's an advertising slogan for Sky Vegas, but it might also apply to HAYSIE, who won Sunday Major for the 2nd time this year. When he won it in February, in pre-boomlet days remember, he collected £4,000. Last night? £6,625.

When we play poker, we do certain things in reaction to others. Winning poker relies on a series of plays - be it 3 or 4 bets, c-betting, v-betting & God knows what else which provoke certain reactions. They can't call. And I fancy that why HAYSIE comes up with these unexpected results, he keeps doing the unexpected. He's in his late 70's, can barely speak English, & has never studied poker, & yet he's won Sunday Major twice in 3 months. What a pain he must be to share a table with, stubbornly ploughing his own furrow his own way. He won the £1,000 Golden Ticket 10 days ago too.

It's traditional for me to be gracious about big winners in these threads, but you'll need to give me some time to come up with something. It's not easy.

Look who ran 5th, too - Ambo. He spends most of the week tweeting & re-tweeting political stuff, then on Sunday night plays a few poker biggies & very often pockets a few bob. Here's a wager for you - he'll be an MP within the next 10 years.

Now, let's see how clever he is. @NChanning & Black Belt Poker, were mentioned in a thread yesterday. Go on Neil, go answer the chap's question....

    HERE

And if Ambo can answer that one, he deserves to be not just an MP, but a Prime Minister. Imagine that, Neil Channing, the next Boris Johnson.

Less than 2 weeks since bagging Quickdraw for £759, Climwinner won again, collecting a juicy £1,200 this time. He gets the Timeform P, definitely a progressive sort.

5th was sillymid, who has worked for the NHS for 40 years as I recall. Give him a clap on Thursday night please.

A nice double for Topdogfish, who after winning this, also went on to take down an 89 runner BH which started at 0030.

The Bates won this. We know that Sharky is not always accurate, but it now shows his Sky Poker profit as being over £300,000. Whatever the true number is - & it's probably a lot more - it's extraordinary stuff. Well done Mr B.

@HAYSIE used to take our Morning meetings,.......usually good FUN and quite inspiring really, (unless you were the one who'd F***ED UP! and had to go and see him in his smoke-filled Office), and he would always have some Nugget of information to help you ......... so Thank you Tony, you were a pleasure to work for, and really WELL DONE last night.

I did shove a pair of 4s vs Hayesie who obv called with 99 and I made quads. He had so many it must have barely caused a flinch and it doesn't seem to have stopped him. Well done Hayesie.

The depressing thing about the thread you refer to is that the guy only gets to say about once every year that Sky Poker is rigged to help me to win. The question that it always makes me think of is why, given that the rigging they do to help me is so infrequent, would I play any tournaments in the other weeks? If they could just rig it for me to be ahead on the year I'd be delighted.
