I wouldn't presume to comment on any players game on this or any other site. I'm not qualified in the slightest. However, perhaps a little break, especially if you have had a few bad beats in SNG's might help. Walk away, make a cup of tea, read the paper for 15 minutes anything to just change your focus for a short while. Then perhaps comeback and play again or even leave it for a day or two. Unless it is a living, it is supposed to be fun and as the saying goes, when the fun stops....

We all know how you feel, it happens to all of us with long runs of getting beat while well ahead.
I took solace while watching a pro player go through the same thing.

I've watched him for a year, as he always talks you through his thought process as he's playing live. And goes through hands in detail.
He also has is bankroll on show.
He has taught me so much and definitely improved my game.

However, 6 months ago he had BR of £270.000. Over a quarter of a million.
He has been on a downswing since then and lost 60k.
Unbelievable bad beat after bad beat.
He's a pro and a very good player and his reading of what people have is uncanny.
He rarely makes mistakes and all the losses were when he was playing correctly.

There's no beating a downswing apart from riding it out.

Matt Staples?? He’s actually just talked about lowering his stakes again for a time. Makes sense as well.

Yes (and I meant dollars not pounds) A top player losing 60k over 6 months.
Got to be a worry. He steadily added to br every week from $100, apart from a 93k jump.

The answer is because this is online poker and not real life poker. if you want to make money then play poker in a casino where the cards are shuffled by a real human dealer and not a computer program. i had my pocket kings and pocket queens beat today.

Have you never had queens or kings beaten when playing live?
What about the automatic shufflers that live casinos have?

If you think about it, how does shuffling the cards manually make for better - or worse - outcomes?

If we are playing, say, 6 handed, how does better or worse shuffling means QQ or KK is more - or less - likely to be beaten?

One card goes to seat 1, one to seat 2, & so on. Then a card is burned. Rinse repeat, & so on.

How does manual shuffling make it more likely KK or QQ will hold?

A lot of comments giving good general advice without seeing this player play. They inflict more bad beats then they get. This one game alone just now, shoved A3 short stack, 3rd of my stack with A6 standard raise standard call, flop 6, home and dry wohoo, turn 3, river 3, Doh!! Few hands later Q9 off v 10 10, calls min raise, flop 7 10 Q, shoves, wohoo I call, turn 8, river J. Not too much wrong gameplay wise just moans too much with the beats, but we all love a vent :)

It’s because your kung fu is weak.

It’s a hard fact to accept because the variance often swings in our favour, but once you have played against real talented people you begin to realise that it takes more than just luck to win a flip……u say 90%, yet this is just an imaginary figure…..look at the hands individually, stuff like stack size, bounty prize or amount of callers all have massive implications on pre flop all in results.

72 is just as likely to hit a flop as AK is, sure AK is a favourite, but the likely hood of any cards hitting any street is no different than any other.

I just read another thread where a guy is droning on about mathematics, what he is not grasping is that the math is a guideline only, in reality the most unlikeliest outcome can happen as often as the most probable, because reality is random.

Very insightful post by Mr Beer.

So many players really struggle to understand the maths of poker, how maths work, probability & variance.

When we lose we feel aggrieved, & we can either finger-point & blame anything & everything else, or accept these things happen, try to learn from them, & move on.

Sky Poker's software - & let us be kind here - is somewhat retro, & the notion that it can do weird things like favour one player over another, is beyond ridiculous.

The best thing about poker is that is exposes our character, our mental strength. Can we accept adversity & move on, or are we going to blame the software, or bad plays by others? It's the difference between those who can enjoy the game, & those for whom it's an ordeal.

I can show you player chat by players who moan & whinge in every game, every day. Why these people play is one of life's great mysteries. They are not pros, they are playing poker as a recreation or a hobby. We would not go fishing, or down the pub, or crown green bowling or whatever if we did not enjoy it, so why is poker any different?
