The 2022 WSOP has begun so let's try - between us, as I struggle for time these days - to try & keep in touch with what is happening.

First up, sadly it has left The Rio, & now takes place jointly in Ballys & Paris, which are adjoining hotels on the Strip, right opposite Bellagio. Parking will be a nightmare.

    Event #1: Casino Employees No-Limit Hold'em

2022 began with the Casino Employees event, by tradition always the starter, & we had a young lady winner, Katie Kopp. No surprise, this, as she finished 3rd in the same event in 2018.

    Event #2: High Roller Bounty No-Limit Hold’em

This has a $100,000 buy-in. Can you imagine paying $100,000 to enter a poker tourney? Run your Aces into a set of Kings early doors & it's goodbye to enough cash to buy a modest house.

Just 5 remain, & it's Pantomime Villain time as amongst the 5 is Ali Imsirovic. Who he? Allegedly banned from GG for using RTA, as well as a bunch of other nasty allegations. Pretty sure the Rail will be cheering on the immensely popular Chance Kornuth who has more than the other 4 players combined.

RANK PLAYER CHIP COUNT BIG BLINDS

    1 Chance Kornuth 14,265,000 143

    2 David Peters 8,920,000 89

    3 Ali Imsirovic 1,815,000 18

    4 Dario Sammartino 1,740,000 17

    5 Koray Aldemir 860,000 9

2nd placed David Peters has a great chance if he recovers from a little spot of inconvenience. TMI David, TMI.

    Event #3: $2,500 Freezeout No-Limit Hold'em

752 entrants, from which 113 remain.

Plenty of faces still in including Shannon Shorr, David Benyamine, Dylan Linde, Kenny Hallaert, Scott Seiver, Shaun Deeb, & Farah Galfond, wife of Phil Galfond.

The name that jumps off the page though is Harry Lodge, from Haywards Heath, in 11th place. Harry burst onto the scene when he won the Sky Poker UKPC back in 2015. Since then he has spread his wings & cashed in multi WSOP & EPT's. He was also a guest of a Sky Poker qualifier at the WSOP in, I think, 2016.

It seems that it is not just David peters who is "running well", many players have complained of diarrhoea including Phil Hellmuth.

Bit worrying, because as you probably know, that's a common symptom of the Omicron COVID variant.

Great pictures bringing back wonderful memories.
Love reading these updates @Tikay10 , Tony, thanks for doing it.
Where are you staying this year, will you be moving from The Rio, like the WSOP has?

    Hi Nick,

Yes, no Rio for me this year, I'm staying with the Sky Poker crew at Palazzo.

I'll really miss the RIO, tbh.

I assumed his post was just mocking Phil. He had been trying to sell action in the 100k at 1.3 then ended up being ill and unable to play.

    Event #2: $100,000 High Roller Bounty No-Limit Hold’em

As expected - & hoped in my case - David Peters took this, and he did so in double quick time, the 5 remaining players concluding business within an hour of the restart. David now has over $40 million in Live earnings & this was his 4th WSOP Bracelet.

1 David Peters United States $1,166,810

2 Chance Kornuth United States $721,144

    3 Dario Sammartino Italy $498,686

4 Ali Imsirovic Bosnia and Herzogovina $350,158

    5 Koray Aldemir Germany $249,693

6 Matthew Steinberg United States $180,872

7 Phil Ivey United States $133,127

    Event #5: $500 The Housewarming No-limit Hold'em

Just 147 of the 3,368 remain. The only Brit I can see listed is Alexandre Vuilleumier in 5th, but I suspect he's not a "real" Brit, more likely that's a flag of convenience affair for tax reasons.
