i cant logically explain this but can i make money from it?

DoublemeDoubleme Member Posts: 2,286
So there are some things I just cannot explain logically they are yet they should not be. I have never been good at doing charecters voice, like trying to mimic cartoon charecters and the likes it is a disaster every single time no matter how hard i try or how much I have watched the cartoon. yet there is one exception a random freak one that makes no sense as to how but I can perectly mimic Mickey Mouse voice.

So why i dont know its just natural it makes little sense but if I buy a Mickey Mouse costume and do kids parties etc, could I use this to make a decent living?

Entertaining Kids is hard work even for Mickey Mouse, if you need to make money.

Somehow, and I have no idea why, but if I had to guess at one talent you would have, being able to do a passable Mickey Mouse impression would have been right up there.

I would suggest trying it out by attending the Skypoker Brighton SPT event fully 'moused up' just to see how well it goes down.

Tikay dressed as The Grinch with Doubleme as Mickey Mouse trying to cheer him up would be the greatest finale ever to Sky Poker being a stand alone site.

I cant see myself attending the Brighton SPT its right in the middle of too many things.
Also I have concerns about a number of things regarding SPT now, but that would be a topic for a different thread.

I dont think a Mickey Mouse voice however bad or decent would do well on Britains got Talent I would expect there would need to be more to my act if I was going to go on that show.

There is a short answer to your question.

    No.

You sound like someone who believes they could be a comedian. Because they have precisely 1 joke that they are confident is funny. Somehow disregarding the fact that they know that they have no other material, and don't know how to work a room.

Being a children's entertainer is a tough gig. Here is why.

    1. You have to have about 1 hour of entertainment, that spans a lot of different things. Probably involving a few jokes, some magic, balloons and a disco. I couldn't do that in a million years-most people cannot
    2. Kids are a tough crowd. If they are not enjoying it, they let you know. And these hecklers are untouchable
    3. Parents are an even tougher crowd. A lot say tthe main thing is entertaining their kids. But a lot mean they want to have some "me" time, and expect you to be both entertaining and completely non-threatening. In a fluffy kind of way. With the greatest of respect, that is not you. While 2 of the 30 parents stay and Judge-in a way that would scare Simon Cowell

You're not that guy. Don't get me wrong-I am sure various kids would like you. But you are marmite-some kids, and some adults, would not.

PS. Been to the BGT auditions a couple of times with 1 of my kids. There are 2 ways of getting on the show-being absolutely brilliant, or to be prepared to be ritually disembowelled for "entertainment"

Why not try it Phil Hellmouth (spelt his name wrong intentionally) has been dressing up like a pr4t for years and somehow getting away with it at poker tournaments.

I would suggest that if you want to make money you take all your posts on here, employ the skills of an editor and then publish them in the comedy / fantasy genre.

    Probably be a Times bestseller.

well half the time I am trying to be silly and humourous to amuse myself but I dont think people get that. So Whilst you likely mean that as an insult I dont know whether to take that as a compliment or not.

I definitely think if I was to attempt to publish anything in the written sense I would need both a proof reader and an editor.

I think @Essexphil is probably mostly right I am not good with people and handling children would be outside of my skill set. However in the summer it may be that I can show up in certain towns etc in a Mickey mouse costume pose for photos and do the voice and get money that way from tips etc. Different towns have different rules for this sort of thing though and that would need to be looked into. I already know from my girlfriend busking and a few other people I have known some towns just have anyonbe can show up but must be so far apart from other street performer or busker whilst other towns need a licence etc etc.

    its just throw away thoughts.

My thoughts are, you might well be going to jail.

You're coming across as a little bit creepy. Also be warned, the parents of kids can be the most volotile and violent, to any perceived danger, they make football lads look like pussycats.

You know this community always try to twist and spin what I say etc I do not get anyway what so ever how talking about making an income from dressing up as mickey mouse could be a crimmal act, or even further a crimminal act to which I could get a prison sentence for.

Are you seriously trying to imply that I have said anything of an illegal nature in this thread or would do anything as awful as what I am guessing your implying I would do?

This is absurd in the extreme.

NO I AM SAYING THAT YOU ARE BEING A COMPLETE 4RSE. No you haven't said anything that is illegal. I NEVER SAID YOU DID. Although raging paranoia would seem to be one of your bete noirs.

EVERYTHING IS NOT AN ATTACK ON YOU, but ffs think about how you are perceived. Some people already have you down as an eccentric, you have a proclivity for doomsday scenarios and an unhealthy interest in a childs teddy bear, which, whether you want to admit it or not, you use to display your emotional states regarding sports, politics and news.

I suggest you try posting a few months of your missives on any social media platform and then introduce the topic of trying to entertain children. Perhaps then you will understand where I'm coming from. Trust me the response will not be positive.

You asked for any thoughts, you seem upset that I have responded. What did you expect, a big whoop yeah go for it Dave or a Noooo that's the worst idea ever.

Because if we encorage you we're taking the p1ss and if we say no we're all hating on you. You see Dave, that's where playing the victim leaves others, we have no answer to give that you wont seize upon to boo hoo at.

It was the way that you seemed to think that you could just casually dress up as a Disney character and approach children that I would flag as creepy.

you said I will be in jail, I wasnt talking about dressing in a mickey mouse costume and going outside a first school I mentioned about been a street entertainer.
However yeah I have gone off the idea.

    eccentric
Eccentricity is often associated with individuals who have unusual or unconventional behaviors, interests, or perspectives that deviate from societal norms. Eccentric people may be creative, innovative, and free-spirited, often following their passions and expressing themselves in unique ways. They might have distinctive habits, dress styles, or hobbies that set them apart from others.

Is there something specific you'd like to know about eccentricity or perhaps a particular eccentric person you have in mind?

Yeah I would say i am eccentric I am naturally Eccentric and would have to try actively not to be yet actually try to be eccentric so sure I will own that.

However been Eccentric is not a crime or immoral, I am not a fan of normal.

I kind of see where your coming from but I think its disingenious This forum is for 18+ that means it would be very different if my posts were on another platform tailored to different demographics.

Yeah i like to express myself as winni the pooh on these forums because I find that funny.

If I ever do have a proper social media presence I should be careful about such things though not nec rule it out.

Mark is only telling you, as we all are, being a children's entertainer is fraught with danger from all sides ....... we give you this information based on our experiences over the years of seeing others try it. Whether you would be any good and make money at it comes down to giving it a go , but be prepared , we all think we can sing till the sound comes out and you hear the howl. fwiw hic!
  • goldongoldon Member Posts: 9,301
You must have something going for you as you get lots of responses to your posts and that's more than my thread gets........why
