Social Media Mocks Trump's 'Yippy' Excuse For Pausing Tariffs
ABC News @ABC · Follow During White House event with auto racing champs, Pres. Trump tells reporters he decided to pause some of his tariffs because he "thought that people were jumping a little bit out of line."
"They were getting yippy ... a little bit afraid."
Stephen Davies @stedavies People do tend to get a little yippy when the markets lose $9 trillion.
So now the entire world will know how to manipulate Trump & will have no incentive to back down! Just wait him out!
Color me yippy and afraid
So it wasn't the plan all along, after all 🙄. The truth is there never has been a plan and there never will be. America's security and economic stability is subject to the whims of an insane autocrat.
Trump accidentally phoned former official HR McMaster – then abused him when he realized who was on the line, report says
When the president came on the line, he began: “Henry…” before launching into the conversation, CBS News reports, citing two sources who were not authorized to discuss private conversations.
McMaster knew this familiar voice was definitely President Trump, but he also quickly realized that he was not the intended recipient of the call. For a start, his name is not Henry. H.R. is short for Herbert Raymond.
“Mr. President, this is H.R. McMaster,” he said.
“Why the f*** would I talk to H.R. McMaster?” Trump asked in response before launching into what two sources said was a scathing critique of his former aide.
The call ended soon after.
According to the same two sources, the president had intended to speak with South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster.
President Donald Trump on Wednesday defended his decision to pause his stock market-rattling tariffs but, in the process, teed up a question that critics couldn’t resist answering in withering ways.
“How do you get to be president and you’re stupid?” Trump asked reporters in the Oval Office, as he tried to shift blame for America’s economic challenges onto his predecessors and not China, whose products he has now hit with a 125% tariff.
